A Green Analytical Method for Simultaneously Determining Plasticizers Residues in Honeys from Different Botanical Origins Recent research by the Analytical Chemistry Group of the University of Valladolid focused on determining nine plasticizers in honey samples by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). While the team points out that there have been studies conducted previously focusing on the assessment of other contaminants in honey (such as metals, pesticides, antibiotics, and veterinary drugs), there are comparatively few that have been done specifically regarding plastics. CQUniversity recently concluded a laboratory trial to identify methane-reducing compounds that could be delivered via drinking water. Of these compounds, Rumin8’s product recorded a 99% reduction in methane production without a decrease in digestibility. The study found that: “The clear standout compounds in terms of methane reduction were sodium monensin (64pc methane reduction) and the Rumin8 IVP (99pc methane reduction), delivering significant methane production reductions without impacting in vitro dry matter digestibility,” Rumin8’s CEO David Messina said: “This trial indicated almost total methane elimination in a laboratory setting, which was really pleasing for Rumin8,” “The CQU trial results were consistent with the trial results from other in vitro and in vivo (animal) studies.
