Faith, family, surf, and donuts.

Can I be honest with you? Actually…. don’t bother answering, because I really don’t care and am fix’n to say what I’m gonna say regardless. 😂 Christ defines me and when I look at situations, I try to look at them through a Biblical lense. But I wasn’t always a Christian and I know many of you aren’t. Talking about my faith is a conversation I’m always willing to have. Another conversation I’m always willing to have, is about being a firefighter/first responder and the mental health challenges our line of work can create. And the last thing I want, is for my faith to be the reason a first responder who is struggling, refused to reach out to me. Will I let my faith lead my decision making? Of course! But if I know someone doesn’t share my faith and they came to me for help, I’m going to find them the help they need and deserve. And (plug your ears my hardcore Christian friends) there have been many occasions where I have found my non-Christian brothers and sisters some amazing care out in the secular world. (You Hardcore Christian friends can unplug your ears now) You see, I’ve been called to show the love I’ve been given to ALL of my neighbors. And if they come to me for help, like I did back when I wasn’t a Christian, I’m helping- PERIOD! Because the most Christlike thing I can do at that moment is do my part to keep them alive. Now, don’t get me wrong, while they are receiving the help they need, I will be silently praying on the sidelines for them to hear the voice of God. And, if one day they ask me about the way I was able to find healing, I will most definitely tell them the story of Who saved me and Who keeps running back to pull me in when I wander. But when they show up in pain, while also still being blind and deaf to my beliefs, I’m not going to preach to them, instead I’m going to show His love through my actions while knowing one day, the Lord may, or may not, use me to reveal Himself to them. But trying to figure that part out isn’t my job— My job is to be obedient and use the gifts and abilities he’s given me in a way that gives Him all the glory! Jason Sautel Rescuerbook.com
