Back to where it all started…for a day 😉 Yesterday was a great day back at Erasmus University Rotterdam, Erasmus School of Economics. It was a pleasure to welcome Pascale Wautelet and Thaís Souza—two inspiring leaders in my network—for guest talks in Stefan Stremersch’s course on marketing & innovation. Pascale, VP Global R&D and Sustainability at Avery Dennison, shared valuable insights on the importance of solid innovation processes for H1, H2, and H3 innovations. She reminded us that protecting H1 and the people excelling in that structure is crucial. Keeping the innovation drumbeat alive is key to sustaining momentum. 🥁 Thais, Global Marketing Director Animal Nutrition & Health at Cargill, sparked a great discussion on the dynamics between global and regional marketing teams: how can they be truly complementary and work together in harmony? 🌍 Students shared many interesting insights and showed some of their applications of genAI for ideation. Lots of young talent in the room! In the afternoon, it was also great to reconnect with former colleagues during the Market Research Meets Market Practice event organized by ESE Marketing (thanks Dr. Arie Barendregt RM MBA) and NIMA, Nederlands Instituut voor Marketing, where 100 marketeers from academia and practice came together. Highlights included: 📊 Martijn de Jong challenged us on the evolving role of market research in the Large Language Models era 🔍 Nuno Almeida Camacho showed us the importance of customer insights for innovation. It pays off to use creative voice of customer methods early on in the innovation process 💡 Andreas Bayerl, Dr. highlighted the benefits of influencer marketing 🔄 and Michiel Van Crombrugge shared some interesting research on product customization and subscription-based platforms. This in combi with talks from practitioners. E.g. Great to see how AI moderated voice and video interviews will greatly influence the work done by market researchers: thanks for sharing Niels Schillewaert. Always energizing to return to a place where I spent several great years, and to see so much thought-provoking work in action! #innovation #marketing #academia #practice #bridging
Finn-Ole Höner, Victoria S. Niehues: es war schön euch beide endlich persönlich zu treffen!
Was great to be part of this event and benchmark and gather insights from other experts in the field of strategic marketing, sustainable innovation and transformation! And super energizing to see the next generation of leaders coming up! Kudos to the students!!
Loved being part of that and thank you for the opportunity! Great insights and always refreshing to be around students and learn from the new generation 🔝
