Happy Canada Day!! 🍁 I love seeing this robotic arm out there in space, made in Canada, with Canada's name on it - it is so much pride to see! 🛰 This is the Canadarm2, a robotic arm attached to the space station that helps astronauts out in space with various tasks on their spacewalks. The company that designed and delivered it was MDA Space, and now, MDA Space is working on Canadarm3, a $1B contract that was just awarded to them for this massive endeavor. Canadarm3 will go far and beyond what Canadarm2 once did, literally. 🚀A New Milestone for China’s Space Program as Only Female Spaceflight Engineer Joins Crew This week marks a significant moment in China’s space exploration journey as the country prepares to send a new crew to the Tiangong space station. Scheduled for launch on Wednesday from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, the Shenzhou-19 mission will bring three astronauts aboard Tiangong for a six-month stay. Among them is Wang Haoze, China’s sole female spaceflight engineer, who now becomes the third Chinese woman to take part in a crewed space mission. Leading the mission is Cai Xuzhe, a veteran astronaut and former air force pilot with experience on the Tiangong from the Shenzhou-14 mission. Completing the trio is Song Lingdong, a fellow astronaut making his first journey to the space station. Together, they’re set to carry out a variety of tasks until their return in late April or early May of next year. They’ll take over from the current Tiangong crew, which is scheduled to return to Earth on November 4. China’s ambitious space program, with President Xi Jinping’s backing, is the third globally to put humans in orbit and has achieved multiple milestones, including robotic landings on Mars and the Moon. Tiangong, operated by crews that rotate every six months, is the centerpiece of China’s growing space endeavors. China’s vision for its space program stretches even further, with plans to land astronauts on the Moon by 2030 and to establish a base on the lunar surface. SpaceX creates history as it takes first all-civilian space-walk and return safely to earth The most revolutionary mission this year was SpaceX’s first commercial space flight with an exclusively civilian crew and the first test of an all-civilian spacewalk. The crew, having orbited Earth and its moon for five days, the crew safely splashed down in the Atlantic ocean near the coast of Florida on Sunday an important stop in space exploration. The mission was under Polaris Dawn program and was funded by billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman. He was joined by retired aviation officer Lt Col Scott ‘Kidd’ Poteet, SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon who also worked as flight directors on the launch. Most notably, Isaacman was the 264th man to go space walking, with Gillis right behind him as being the 265th. These miracles which in the history were possible solely for professional cosmonauts reflect the importance of the mission to bring space travel to a much broader audience. Elon Musk’s SpaceX company broadcasted the capsule’s return and the successful landing of the mission got a lot of appreciation. Isaacman was able to post an edition of valediction from the space where he stated that from there, Earth looks like an ideal place to be. The mission is the first achievement of SpaceX’s Polaris Program that is tasked to advance human space exploration. A post on X (formerly Twitter) by SpaceX confirmed the safe return of the crew, stating: “Dragon and the Polaris Dawn crew safely splash down off the coast of Florida and successfully perform the first-ever human spaceflight mission of the Polaris Program. ” In addition to this, it signified development of space tourism that was seen as a method of exclusively funded space exploration by civilians which created a pathway for future space exploration projects by private citizens.

Billionaire and Engineer Conduct First Private Spacewalk In SpaceX Mission: Two astronauts, billionaire Jared Isaacman and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis, completed the worldâ(TM)s first private spacewalk outside a SpaceX capsule, testing new spacesuits and procedures in a risky mission that pushes the boundaries of commercial spaceflight. Reuters reports: The astronauts on the Polaris Dawn mission went one at a time, each spending about 10 minutes outside the gumdrop-shaped Crew Dragon capsule on a tether, as Elon Musk's company again succeeded in pushing the boundaries of commercial spaceflight. Jared Isaacman, a pilot and the founder of electronic payments company Shift4, exited first, followed by SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis, while crewmates Scott Poteet and Anna Menon watched from inside. The whole process, unfolding about 450 miles (730 km) above Earth, lasted an hour and 46 minutes. The four astronauts have been orbiting Earth since Tuesday's launch from Florida. Isaacman is bankrolling the Polaris mission, as he did his Inspiration4 flight with SpaceX in 2021. Streamed live on SpaceX's website, the mission tested trailblazing equipment including slim spacesuits and a process to fully depressurize the Crew Dragon cabin - technology that Musk hopes to advance for ambitious future private missions to Mars. "Back at home we all have a lot of work to do. But from here, Earth sure looks like a perfect world," Isaacman said after emerging from the spacecraft, silhouetted with the half-lit planet glittering below. It was one of the riskiest missions yet for SpaceX, the only private company that has proven to be capable of routinely sending people to and from Earth's orbit. The promotional video, published by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on Nov. 21, shows not only animations of planned activities but also tests on hardware being developed to make the moon mission possible. China's moon landing is planned to take place before 2030. It will involve two launches of the Long March 10 rocket, currently being developed, separately sending a crewed spacecraft, named Mengzhou, and a lunar landing stack, named Lanyue, into lunar orbit. There, the two spacecraft will dock and a pair of astronauts will transfer to Lanyue and descend to the lunar surface. Also shown are a hotfire test of a Long March 10 first stage, a parachute deployment test during an airdrop, a separation test using a Lanyue prototype test article, the lunar extravehicular suit that will be worn by the astronauts and work on a Mengzhou crew spacecraft along with other ground tests and facilities. Finally, the video shows a diagram detailing what the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center on Hainan island will look like when ready to host the lunar mission launches. Wenchang is China's only coastal spaceport and hosts launches of the country's current largest rocket, the Long March 5 series. The spaceport is being expanded to be capable of launching the larger Long March 10 and the future Long March 9 super heavy-lift launcher.
