Can methane-eating microbes (mems) help solve the climate crisis? Farming is a major and hard-to-abate source of methane emissions. A California-based startup Windfall Bio has raised $28 million from the Breakthrough Energy a.o. to scale up its innovative methane-capture technology, adressing all big methane producers, including farms, waste treatment facilities, landfills, and oil and gas producers. "At dairy operations, farmers can spread mems over a compost pile. The methane from the barn, lagoon or feedlot can then be piped over to the treated compost.". Promising Bloomberg Green
