Not going to lie—I felt a little starstruck on Monday while chatting with Benjamin Law about “the stories that shape us.” Ben is a renowned Australian storyteller, known for his work across multiple mediums (The Family Law, Wellmania, Gaysia). And let me tell you, he knows his stuff. Together, we dived into some big topics: how storytelling can gain buy-in, influence audiences, drive change, and yes—help reshape the world. It’s hard to distil a conversation that traversed so many big ideas, but here are the ones that resonated most with me: 1. We create the stories we needed growing up. Stories are a powerful form of representation, which is why diverse narratives matter so much. 2. Culture is storytelling. It transcends generations, preserving and passing on crucial knowledge. 3. Data + storytelling = impact. Especially when the data is overwhelming (think climate change), human stories make it relatable and actionable. 4. Ask yourself: Why this story? Why now? Why me? These questions help uncover the heart of your narrative and sharpen its purpose. A huge thank you to Amy Hanly (She/Her) and Rivekie Ho for organising such a thought-provoking and inspiring session.
So Cool!!! Love reading Ben's columns in Good Weekend.
We so loved having you Imogen! Thank you so much for bringing this session to life for us! ✨

3mo“Culture is storytelling.” Just one of several absolute truths here. Culture change requires stronger stories is one of my 2025 headlines.
