🌿Grid Edge & Ark are on a mission to slice carbon emissions and energy costs across Ark’s network of schools 🌍 Grid Edge has vast experience decarbonising the education sector, working with a range of schools, colleges and universities across the UK. Deploying tech to combat climate change, enabling our customers & partners to save 20%+ across their commercial building portfolios. To date and in less than one year of partnership Grid Edge and Ark Schools have achieved cost & carbon savings in excess of £218,745 & 470,876 kgCO₂e together, achieving some fantastic year on year results. Significant savings were made pinpointing and reducing consumption outside of operating hours and over half terms, with the Grid Edge system identifying any excess consumption or increases in real time. The US’ first all-electric school bus fleet is also a grid asset: The Oakland Unified School District has become the first major school district in the US to transition to an all-electric fleet of buses. In partnership with  electric vehicle company Zum, the district has deployed 74 plug-in school buses, replacing all of the fossil fuel-powered models it used previously. As we move toward sustainable fuels, it’s essential to consider synthetic fuels tested on carbon emission models, balancing energy efficiency with public health and community impact. Clean air regulations must also prioritize the needs and costs to local communities. Continuous testing of sustainable fuels shows that engines can adapt without violating industrial standards. And as we expand alternative fuel corridors, we must recognize that many highways are placed in disadvantaged communities. These communities should be first in line to receive enhanced electrical infrastructure, providing equitable access to cleaner energy.
