I’m excited to share that I’ve decided to document my journey as I build FinchTech AI into a successful startup. I’ll be sharing what I’ve done so far, my weekly goals, the challenges I face, and the successes I achieve along the way; the good, the bad, and the ugly. So far, I’ve built my initial website from scratch, established the FinchTech AI brand, and begun developing the MVP for my first AI tool, CalculAI. This tool is designed to assist engineers in selecting the best materials and manufacturing processes. It’s already functional, with a conversational interface that can handle basic material selection tasks, though there’s still work to do. What I’ve Accomplished: • Trained and integrated a RandomForestClassifier model for material recommendations. • Built a conversational interface for user interaction. • Improved the AI’s ability to handle different scenarios and make better recommendations. This Week’s Focus: • Enhancing the AI’s decision-making with a decision tree structure. • Improving scenario recognition to make the AI more intuitive. • Implementing a hybrid approach to better guide users through complex decision-making. • Start the build of website 2.0. Long-Term Goals: My vision is to launch CalculAI as a valuable tool for the engineering industry, secure funding to expand my team, and develop additional AI tools to address other engineering challenges. Challenges: With no technical background in software development and experience as a project manager in the engineering industry, I’ve self-taught myself web design and AI development. The journey has been filled with obstacles; many times I’ve wanted to quit, but each day I pushed a little further. Today, I’m proud to say I have a working AI tool, even if it’s just the bare minimum right now (Plan to show a demo later this week) 🚀 . I’m inviting you all to join me on this journey. If you have advice, I’m all ears, and if you have questions, I’m happy to answer. Let’s connect, share insights, and support each other as we navigate the startup world. #AI #Startup #Engineering #MachineLearning #TechInnovation #Entrepreneurship #ProductDevelopment #Resilience #Leadership #Innovation

Lenny and I asked 20+ top founders, investors & builders about their most surprising learning when building AI 🪄 into their products. These leaders have built many of today’s most loved AI products, including products at Adobe, GitHub, Intercom, Perplexity, Canva, Runway, HeyGen, and Superhuman. What they told us: https://lnkd.in/ech9jDa6 The TL;DR: 1️⃣ Embracing AI opportunities calls for a new approach to building products. 2️⃣ The ones who succeed will bring different mindsets and frameworks to unlock 10x outcomes. 3️⃣ While the tech gets the attention, the winners will still be the products that solve real problems for people the best and provide the best design and UX to train people how to use it. 4️⃣ Be intentional about your initial wedge, and look for a workflow with a big reward and potential for repeat use. 5️⃣ The last mile of building AI products can make all the difference (speed, scalability bottlenecks, etc.). Huge THANK YOU to these 🔥 folks for sharing their hard-earned insights 🙏🙏🙏 -- they're tagged in the comments. #ai #product #startups #genai

AI is eating the world. But guess what? You don’t need to be a developer to join the feast. Imagine building your own AI-powered app or solution—not in years, not in months, but in weeks. No coding skills? No problem. We are doing it too. And now, so can you. In 2025, the rules have flipped. Non-tech builders are launching products, scaling businesses, and solving real-world problems. AI tools are the new architects, engineers, and developers. You bring the ideas. They do the heavy lifting. The only question is: Will you be watching from the sidelines—or stepping onto the field? We’re launching a program for folks just like you—non-technical builders who want to create with AI. 💡 Learn. Build. Launch. 📈 Solve real problems. Gain real skills. 💥 Feel the thrill of being a builder. Your first build could be closer than you think. ➡️ VentureBuilders.dev #BuildwithAI #AI #VentureBuilders #Startups

Interesting set of insights on how to build with generative AI and how how to augment existing products. Most of this is common sense but it can help to be reminded on common sense. Especially interesting from a pricing perspective is 11., time spent in App going down. I think this can be extended to use and usage based pricing. Most companies will need to rethink their pricing strategy. The PeakSpan Capital Ibbaka 2024 survey on NRR performance is almost ready for analysis. Just over 420 responses so far. One thing we will be looking at closely is changes to combinations of pricing metrics and if these relate to use of Generative AI. https://lnkd.in/gYZ9GxBZ #SaaS #NRR #generativeAI #pricing #pricingmetrics

You’re either building AI into your product now or you will be soon. You're also probably drowning in advice on how to do it, but most of it is fluff. Kyle Poyar teamed up with James Evans, CommandBar's founder and CEO (proud 🥹) and other 20 AI product legends to share some counterintuitive advice for baking AI into your products. Here are some highlights: Think differently 💡 Elad Gil says, "Your first AI product will probably be a fancy chat widget. The real magic happens when you rethink and integrate AI deeply into your product." Solve real problems 🔍 Joshua X. reminds us, "Cool demos don’t equal happy users. Build stuff people actually need." Design matters 🎨 Cameron Adams points out, "AI can do anything, but users need guidance. Give them a map, not a maze." Data is king 👑 Scott Belsky says, "The real power lies in your unique data and a killer interface. Fancy models are a dime a dozen."

Think building a startup takes months? With AI, we did it in weeks. 🚀 For any startup, time and resources are always tight. But here’s the thing—AI changes the game. What would have taken us months to build, we accomplished in a fraction of the time. When we set out to develop Calk, our platform, we estimated it would take 5-6 months. But by integrating AI tools from day one, we launched our MVP in just a month and a half. And with that speed, we were able to start gathering feedback immediately and iterating on our original idea, turning insights into improvements as we went. Here’s how AI helped us achieve more, faster—and how it can help other entrepreneurs too: ▶️ Code Assistance & Development: AI-powered coding tools streamlined our development, identifying errors, suggesting optimizations, and accelerating our build time. What would have taken weeks, we achieved in days. ▶️ Brand Messaging & Brainstorming: For refining our brand voice and developing key messaging, AI helped generate ideas, draft concepts, and polish language, saving us countless hours on brainstorming and wordsmithing. ▶️ Design & Prototyping: AI-assisted design tools helped us prototype faster, testing out layouts and visuals in minutes instead of hours. This enabled us to visually bring our brand to life and validate design choices early on. ▶️ Feedback Analysis: Gathering feedback is only useful if you can quickly analyze and act on it. AI allowed us to sift through user insights, identify trends, and optimize our product based on real user needs, making our MVP more valuable with each iteration. ▶️ Targeted Outreach: AI tools helped us tailor outreach efforts by crafting personalized messaging and identifying the right prospects, making our engagement more effective and helping us expand our community even in the early stages. In today’s world, AI isn’t just for big players. It’s a game-changer that allows startups to do more with less—accelerating timelines, reducing costs, and giving you the agility to refine ideas quickly. Ready to do more with less? AI can be your secret weapon for achieving big goals with limited resources. #Entrepreneurship #AI #Startups #Productivity #Innovation #BuildWithAI

Our AI project seemed destined for failure as we faced delays. But, we turned a potential disaster into a game-changing learning experience!💡 A few months ago, my team & I took on an ambitious project to develop a cutting-edge #AI platform for our clients. Our goals were clear: create a smooth #UserExperience, integrate advanced AI #algorithms, & launch the platform within 6 months. We were excited about the potential impact it could have on our client's businesses and our own #growth. However, we ran into some unexpected challenges. We underestimated how complex it would be to integrate multiple AI models & data sources. Our initial setup couldn’t handle the computational load, causing performance issues & delays. We also had some #communication hiccups within the team, which led to misaligned priorities & duplicated efforts. As the deadline loomed, it became clear we weren’t going to meet our goals. The project was delayed, & the quality wasn’t where we wanted it to be. It was a tough moment, & I felt disappointed & frustrated. Here’s how we recovered & what we learned: 1. Conducted a Retrospective: We held a team meeting to discuss what went wrong. This open conversation helped us understand each other’s perspectives & fostered a culture of transparency. 2. Revised Our Approach: We broke the project into smaller parts & focused on delivering an MVP first. This allowed us to make progress & then improve based on user feedback. 3. Improved Communication: We started doing daily stand-ups to keep everyone on the same page. This simple change made a big difference in our #teamwork. 4. Learned from Feedback: After launching the MVP, we actively sought user #feedback to identify & fix the issues that mattered most to our clients. Looking back, that project was a major learning experience for me & Techavtar. Now, I approach new challenges with a growth #mindset, & the lessons from that experience have helped us succeed in future projects. Have you ever had a project setback that turned into a valuable lesson? 🚀 #startups #entrepreneurship #journey #tech
