Could flying taxis become part of Ireland’s transportation future? Electric Aviation Maven (EA Maven) is teaming up with Future Mobility Ireland (FMCI) to explore how advanced air mobility (AAM) might transform Ireland’s travel landscape. The research aims to assess AAM’s potential impact on environmental efficiency, economic benefits, and the nation’s mobility patterns, presenting Ireland as an ideal setting for air travel innovations. EA Maven’s Darrell Swanson emphasized the significance, noting that Ireland’s market of 89 million annual travelers offers substantial opportunity for eVTOL operators, potentially adding EUR96 million in time savings from Urban Air Mobility (UAM) solutions alone. Highlighting a network of 174 potential UAM routes connecting 103 urban areas, with Dublin leading as a primary hub, the study shows the potential to ease road congestion and cut emissions. Additional routes in cities like Cork, Limerick, and Shannon further reinforce the demand for urban and regional air travel options. FMCI’s CEO, Russell Vickers, noted the importance of a decentralized, multimodal transportation network, remarking that AAM could enable more balanced connections between cities, towns, and rural regions across Ireland. Their findings indicate potential for up to 50 domestic routes from 16 airports, which could yield EUR192 million in economic benefits annually by saving travel time. With benefits across Ireland’s cities and rural areas, this collaboration shows the potential of AAM to bring cleaner, more efficient travel alternatives to the nation. Great to see Invest Victoria has released its final policy Action Plan on the introduction of Advanced Air Mobility to Victoria, Australia. This new era of clean, green, quiet aviation is almost here. Of particular interest is the recognition that the Department of Transport and Planning now needs to step up to develop new rules and regulations for the siting of vertiports outside of existing airports. This work is well advanced already in many cities around the world so there is no time to waste if Victoria wants to create an environment that attracts global investment. Where do you think they should start to encourage new Skyportz® vertiports? Industrial estates? Shopping centres? Service stations? Bunnings carparks? #planning #townplanning #cityplanning #transportplanning #aam #electricaviation #aviation #airtaxis #skyportz Zoltan Csernatony Sonya Kilkenny https://lnkd.in/girWAT2Q

I got a glimpse of the future of regional travel - and it's quite exciting, as it will be sustainable, AI-powered and customer-centric. I kid you not! Traditional regional aviation has been characterised by smaller, less efficient aircraft operating at high costs and serving thin routes. However, today's companies are leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative business models to create a more sustainable and passenger-friendly future for short-haul air travel. I learned this first hand at the Revolution.Aero summit in London. The technologies and business models showcased (in the article) have the power to transform regional aviation, making it more sustainable, efficient, and customer-centric. By offering tailored, on-demand services and leveraging the benefits of electric propulsion, these visionary companies are opening up new markets and reshaping the way we think about short-haul travel. https://lnkd.in/eaYhaE3H h/t Dirk Singer for the article #sustainability #travel #technology

Archer and an SFO-based realty company Kilroy Realty Corporation, wanting #regionalairmobility at its new development at Oyster Bay, partnered to develop a regional #advancedairmobility network surrounding San Francisco. This is interesting because it is not the #urbanairmobility often touted for cities. It is designed to connect from a new vertiport (will it be the only one in SFO and how will you get there?) to destinations otherwise needed a one-to-two hour drive where Archer already has facilities. I assume those are Signature Aviation facilities at #airports. I'm curious on how the routes were decided and whether community planners, who seemed to be the only ones actively working on routes during last years Air Taxi World Congress in SFO. Final question. What are the costs to use the service? https://lnkd.in/gUp8iAf6.

With robust support from all levels of the Australian government, Brisbane is poised to become a pivotal launch market for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and electric air taxis. This exciting development was highlighted in a recent press release. Skyportz®, a leading vertiport developer, unveiled stunning riverfront concept images for Brisbane at the annual Advanced Air Mobility Summit on the Gold Coast, held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort from June 4th. The summit showcases significant contributions from AAM companies including Wisk, Eve Air Mobility, Skyports Infrastructure and Skyportz, Textron, Airbus, and Thales. Clem Newton-Brown OAM, Founder and CEO of Skyportz, emphasized the strategic importance of utilizing natural aviation corridors like rivers for urban vertiport installations. "We believe that the lowest hanging fruit for retrofitting vertiports into urban areas are natural aviation corridors such as rivers. While there are a small number of cities around the world that have developed rooftop helipads, they are not the easiest places to safely land aircraft. There are usually better options, particularly in waterfront cities." In collaboration with Contreras Earl Architecture, and UK firms Pascall+Watson and Minmud, Skyportz has developed potential vertiport designs. Additionally, Skyportz has partnered with former Australian Scientist of the Year, Abdulghani Mohamed, to model wind and turbulence in cities and trial specific sites. In his summit presentation, Newton-Brown outlined the benefits of waterfront vertiports: - Access to scarce urban sites. - Government leases instead of purchasing expensive land. - Clear approach and departure paths over water. - Reduced risk of losing aviation corridors to future development. - Less wind turbulence compared to central business districts. - More predictable airflows. Skyportz aims to decouple aviation from traditional airports, enabling property owners to activate their sites with vertiports. In support of this vision, the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) released vertiport guidelines at the Gold Coast Summit, signaling a commitment to facilitate AAM in Australia. These guidelines notably exclude helicopters to foster community acceptance. A CASA spokesperson elaborated, "This will give the AAM industry an opportunity to demonstrate to the community that a vertiport may be more desirable than a heliport. If communities are going to accept it as an industry, then gaining this ‘social licence’ is very important. With the guidance for vertiports clearly excluding the use of helicopters, we hope that local councils and communities will be more accepting of AAM in their localities." It’s DAY 6🌍 Today, let’s step back and talk about the broader concept of multimodality and its role in creating a truly sustainable travel ecosystem. While aviation is essential for long-haul trips, trains are often the most efficient and eco-friendly option for shorter journeys, offering a fraction of the CO₂ emissions per passenger. In Europe, the push for Multimodal Digital Mobility Services (MDMS) would truly be a game-changer. #MDMS aims to streamline train journeys by integrating ticketing, scheduling, and connections across airlines, rail operators, and other modes of transport. This system enables travelers to book seamless, multimodal trips that combine flights and trains without the hassle of managing separate itineraries. Scaling MDMS globally would make trains more accessible and convenient, encouraging their use as a complement to aviation. It’s an important step toward reducing emissions, easing airport congestion, and enhancing the traveler experience in the new age of mobility. #SustainableTravel #Multimodality #MDMS #Trains #Aviation #FutureOfMobility #ClimateAction #NetZero
