Last week, I spoke about the power of a data center site visit and I took my own advice and visited a phenomenal carrier hotel data center right in the heart of Silicon Valley. This data center is designed for strategic colocation, perfect for enterprises seeking efficient, highly connected deployments with high-speed, low-latency connectivity. Here’s what makes this facility such a great fit for enterprises needing mid-sized deployments—from a few hundred kW up to a few MW—while craving ultra-fast, direct connections to multiple networks and cloud providers. Carrier Hotel Benefits A carrier hotel data center is essentially a connectivity powerhouse. It’s built for enterprises that need more than just colocation—they need superior interconnection capabilities. Here, direct, low-latency fiber connections link you with cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. This centralized access boosts data flow and maximizes hardware efficiency, supporting everything from advanced analytics to real-time processing for AI applications. This Silicon Valley carrier hotel offers access to three major connectivity exchanges that further enhance its appeal: Open Cloud Exchange (OCX) - This software-defined networking platform simplifies multi-cloud access, streamlining data flow across various clouds and networks with advanced security and latency optimization. With OCX, data routes are optimized in real time, enhancing performance for heavy AI and data workloads. Any2Exchange - Known as one of the largest internet exchanges in the U.S., Any2Exchange offers direct, high-performance connections, reducing hops between networks, it enhances speed and reliability, making it ideal for enterprises aiming to cut latency and network costs. The scalability and multi-cloud access through Any2Exchange are just what expanding enterprises need. AMS-IX Bay Area - With its roots in Amsterdam, AMS-IX Bay Area is a well-established, neutral internet exchange offering highly reliable, low-latency connections. Its presence in Silicon Valley allows businesses to connect with an extensive network of peers, maximizing data bandwidth and providing flexible, open exchange options. Why Colocate Here? This facility isn’t designed for massive deployments—it’s built for strategic, high-performance deployments that demand connectivity and speed. It’s an ideal spot for enterprises aiming to grow while staying nimble, benefiting from exceptional data flow, ultra-low latency, and extensive network reach. And with tens of megawatts of capacity coming online in early 2025, there’s plenty of room for new enterprises to join this network-rich environment. Thanks for checking this out. Get out there, do great things, inspire folks, and be kind.

#DataCenter Dubai-based EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, a global digital infrastructure company that is entirely owned by the global group DAMAC, today announced its strategic entry into the US data center market. The planned development in the US will provide cutting-edge data centers with a capacity of 2000MW over the following four years. A $20 billion initial investment was disclosed by EDGNEX yesterday, in joint efforts with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, with ambitions to double the amount based on market opportunity, scalability, and future demand. This initiative is in line with EDGNEX's mission to develop top-tier digital infrastructure platforms that serve Fortune 500 businesses, hyperscalers, and AI players alike. It also aims to promote innovation and provide sustainable, superior infrastructure that serves clients in the US and abroad. Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana are among the midwestern states that will be the focus of the EDGNEX expansion plan, as well as the sunbelt states of Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. In the first phase, data center capacity will be increased through partnerships, land bank acquisitions in coordination with utilities, and the purchase of pre-existing platforms and data centers. There will be one in the Midwest and one in the Sunbelt, with a combined capacity of about 500MW. As EDGNEX continues to grow, this would satisfy the increasing present demand. Supporting the Next Wave of Cloud and AI Growth "This is an extremely exciting moment for us. Our foray into the U.S. market in data centers represents a significant milestone in our journey to build a global digital infrastructure platform that will empower businesses today and in the future, said Mr. Hussain Sajwani, Founder, DAMAC. Leveraging our expertise in real estate and data centers, we aim to deliver best-in-class infrastructure that supports the next wave of cloud and AI growth, helping further to position the U.S. in the technology and global data ecosystem." With a management team of more than 100 professionals spread around the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, EDGNEX is actively growing its workforce to accommodate these expansion goals. EDGNEX has quickly grown throughout the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe since its founding in 2021, laying the groundwork for a calculated move into the US market. EDGNEX asserts that it will introduce and establish new standards for digital infrastructure that is secure, scalable, and sustainable. Data privacy and compliance are not handled or managed by DAMAC, which is an infrastructure provider. EDGNEX intends to use bank financing, DAMAC's equity, and possible outside funding to support its growth in the United States.

Netrouting Parent Firm Acquires Dutch Data Center, Unveils 3.5 MW Expansion The holding company of international #IaaS hosting provider Netrouting, Ellada Holdings, has acquired the #datacenter in the Rotterdam/Den Haag region in the Netherlands which until recently was leased by them from a property manager. This colocation data center operating under the name Data Facilities Data Centers will be expanded in phases within two years with a capacity of 3.5 MW. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. One of the key components of the phased 3MW data center expansion over the next two years is improving network capacity in the #colocation data center. Data Facilities Data Centers has recently made major investments in its optical transport network and strengthening relationships with carriers. As a result, the data center in The Hague has multiple fiber-optic access points and fully separated distribution paths, significantly increasing connectivity and reliability for customers. The data center offers connections at speeds of up to 400 Gbps between seven data centers in the #Amsterdam and Rotterdam regions. The planned expansion will accommodate between 255 and 275 server racks, a significant growth from the current capacity of 165 racks. These new server racks will support a power of 10 kW per rack, which is essential for high-performance computing environments. In addition, improvements are being made to meet the latest TIA-942 Rated 3 standards, ensuring the reliability and performance of the data center facility. According to Ellada Holdings founder and CEO Savvas Bout, the acquisition of the data center in the #Rotterdam / #TheHague region marks a new chapter for the companies within the holding company, with significant expansion opportunities for these brands when it comes to their data center capacity in the Netherlands. In addition to international Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting provider Netrouting and colocation provider Data Facilities Data Centers, the Prefixx (IP4 address broker) and LayerSwitch (Amsterdam-based Internet Exchange Point) brands are also part of Ellada Holdings’ portfolio. The operations of Netrouting and Data Facilities Data Centers were acquired by major U.S. hosting and colocation provider #ColoHouse in 2018, following a strategic partnership since 2010. In 2023, owner Savvas Bout’s Ellada Holdings company bought the operations outside the U.S. market back from ColoHouse, and these ambitious data center expansion plans in the Netherlands are a result of that. 🔶 Read the full article on HostingJournalist Global Tech Wire, were companies in the cloud, hosting, and data center sector, like Ellada Holdings and Netrouting, are publishing their Press Releases and Blogs as a HostingJournalist Insider Member (https://lnkd.in/e4XqvmkU): https://lnkd.in/eiQBt-8X
