A shoutout to the foundational and important work that Maryam Haque and the team at Venture Forward are doing to ensure that many investing perspectives, demographics and geographies have a seat, and remain, at the #venturecapital table. cc Courtney Russell McCrea, Candice Morgan, Kate Mitchell, Jennifer Friel Goldstein, Elliott Robinson, Ellie Wheeler, Garth Timoll, Sr. Bobby Franklin, Nicole J Walker, Barry Eggers, Samara Mejia Hernandez
Ahead of #InternationalWomensDay tomorrow, I had the opportunity to share my thoughts with Private Equity Wire® about the progress we’ve made—and the barriers that still exist—for women in venture capital and private equity. Change is happening, but it requires structure, accountability, and investment. That’s why initiatives like Insight’s 20/20 Vision Capital Fund and organizations like Venture Forward matter: they’re actively investing in new voices, not just talking about them. I also shared some personal lessons from my own journey, including why you don’t need to wait for permission to take up space and finding a tribe of women you can lean on for support and advice. Success in investing (and in life) comes from taking risks, learning as you go, and surrounding yourself with people who push you forward. I’m grateful every day to have colleagues like Rachel Geller, Rebecca Liu-Doyle, Anika Agarwal, Dionne Chingkoe, Philine Huizing, and Whit (Whitney) Bouck. More thoughts at the link below. Many thanks to Private Equity Wire for featuring me. https://lnkd.in/eeivYQjR
