I celebrated my birthday last week, and with it came much reflecting on the many women who inspired me to do something about the abysmal funding climate 😬 Come on a little world tour with me? 🌍 I thought back to when I was a 21-year-old intern in London, arriving FOUR hours early before my first day 😵💫 Downing black coffee at the Nero in Green Park, chain smoking on the patio, and barely eating at all my first week because I was so nervous. Thinking I was headed into corporate energy consulting like a good intern would… Not quite 😏 Instead I went to Sub-Saharan Africa, where I was housed under the roofs of female founders who sat with me for hours, explaining the ineptitudes of the East African funding climate. One woman— while seven months pregnant— lost all her funding and her co-founder in a single day, and still went on to build a company that changes largely rural women’s lives by providing solar energy products. I thought of the women I’ve worked for in Europe, Asia, and Africa, who trusted me to research credit lines, funding options, and write grant proposals for their companies 💸 The Maasai women I sat in the grass with in the Kenyan bush, who shared with me that if they could do anything in the entire world, they would start a business. If only funding wasn’t a barrier. Where my understanding of the power of fintech solidified while observing these same women using M-Pesa to securely receive payments for their goods at their local market. And the Lebanese-born CEO in London who scaled a RE company in Dubai as a sole female founder. Fabulous. No bull. On a mission. Speaking to Ambassadors and high-level execs with unwavering confidence in her mission to fund her venture. These women are a massive part of why I’m here. So that women like them, don’t have to fight so hard to fund their companies. You know, the ones that are more likely to return double in revenue per every dollar invested 😙 This is why I’m launching: ✨ An epicenter of women building impact-driven ventures. ✨ A space where women can actively participate in funding women who are scaling businesses capable of directly shaping their lived experiences. ✨ A place where female consumers can experience themselves as powerful decision-makers and independent capital allocators. ✨ A funding model that is inclusive, accessible, and uniquely treats communities unlike any other funding platform ever has. The result of the women who inspired me to build something better 🚀🔥💰⚡️ #femalefounders #funding #crowdfunding
