What a great day with the participants of the London Health Accelerator! I had the privilege of leading a pitching skills session with some incredible founders working on transformative ideas. Here’s just a glimpse of the innovative projects they’re leading: 💡A memory app to help people with memory loss manage medicines, appointments, and memories. 💡Food-based social clubs for men, creating spaces to forge friendships, combat loneliness, and boost mental health. 💡Skills training for wheelchair users, empowering them to navigate their environment with confidence and independence. Thank you to all the founders for jumping in with bold pitches, active participation, and dancing to Gangnam Style with me—you were an absolute joy to work with! Best thing I heard in the session: “Pitching without slides feels so freeing and authentic!” Most frequently mentioned takeaway: “A structure really helps you stay on point”. Thank you Marta Zukowska for inviting me to run the session at the lovely premises of London & Partners. I can’t wait to see how the founders’ pitches shape up and shine at the grand finale in February.

During our recent Coffee & Croissants session, we had an inspiring conversation with Robine Padberg a seasoned Dual Diagnosis Clinician 🌟 She shared valuable insights on starting her practice in the US and then relocating to the Netherlands. Her journey offered a wealth of knowledge for the attending therapists and coaches: 1️⃣ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞? "It starts with a clear vision and a strong belief in your abilities. Then, find a good location that suits your work style and clients' needs." 2️⃣ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐦𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐦. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝? "In America, I dealt with a very different healthcare system and cultural expectations. In Amsterdam, I experience more focus on personal connection and local networks." 3️⃣ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞? "Finding a suitable space and building a client base were major challenges. Additionally, administrative tasks and marketing took much time and energy." 4️⃣ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? "I learned a lot by doing things myself, but eventually, I outsourced some tasks to professionals. This allowed me to focus on my clients and their well-being." 5️⃣ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬? "A supportive network and access to practical resources would have made a big difference. My advice: specialize as much as possible (work on your niche), and find a community like Stories, where you can grow professionally and personally." Robine shared her story openly and vulnerably, discussing her struggles on her entrepreneurial path and her limiting beliefs (imposter syndrome). It was a beautiful, vulnerable session. Thanks again, Robine, for your insights. I hope to see you again during our next Coffee & Croissants session at Stories ❤️

Here's Co-author giving me a helping hand on this first post of the year, after taking a couple of weeks away from client work with grand plans for writing and planning, only to be floored by an ear infection of all things! My 2024 LinkedIn Rewind: 2024 revealed something profound: private practice isn't just about building a business - it's about creating spaces where both practitioners and communities can flourish. When I founded The Psychology Practice Accelerator seven years ago, I dreamed of helping practitioners break free from depleting models. Last year, watching nearly 90 practices across multiple nationalities transform into regenerative spaces proved that dream wasn't just possible - it's essential. Key transformations that shaped our community: • Successfully registered TPPA trademark, protecting our unique approach. • Launched Season 2 of "Healing Through Private Practice" podcast. • Hosted transformative practitioner retreats in France. • Developed frameworks for moving from extractive to regenerative practice models. Three conversations that particularly resonated: "𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 '𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥' 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦." On why private practice enables innovation and structural equality https://lnkd.in/dcs2-pTg "𝘞𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘴. 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘭, 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩." On rising above corporate competition in mental health https://lnkd.in/d5JC-87R "𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘰 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺." On building supportive professional communities https://lnkd.in/dSaSsEz2 Looking ahead: Our February 2025 cohort will continue expanding TPPA's impact while ensuring each practitioner can build a practice that restores rather than depletes them, whilst working to restore the fabric of our clients' lives. To every psychologist questioning whether there's a better way to practice: There is. And you don't have to figure it out alone. When we reject extractive business models and embrace regenerative ones, we create spaces where both practitioners and communities thrive. Wishing you all the very best for the coming year. 🤞 🤞 #privatepractice #psychologists #regenerativebusiness #regenerativeleadership

Let’s talk about building a network to find consulting work without having to go to a bunch of events. Here are five easy ways to do it: 𝟏. 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: Find groups on LinkedIn or other platforms where public health professionals gather. Share your insights, answer questions, and connect with people who might need your expertise. 𝟐. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭: Write posts, articles, or even short tips about what you know best. When you share helpful information, people will notice you and want to connect. 𝟑. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲: Don’t be afraid to message potential clients directly. Introduce yourself, mention how you can help them, and suggest a quick chat. 𝟒. 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐬: Invite someone for a virtual coffee chat. It’s a relaxed way to get to know someone without the pressure of a big event. A simple, “Hey, want to chat about public health over coffee?” can go a long way. 𝟓. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬: Offer to work with others on projects or research. This teamwork can help you build strong relationships and showcase your skills. Building a network doesn’t have to be overwhelming or stressful. With these steps, you can make meaningful connections and find consulting work from the comfort of your home. 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐫?
