Solar for decentralised energy supply – German Vice Chancellor in Ukraine. A school in Irpin, a city near Kyiv, is now using solar panels to secure its energy supply – Germans Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Actions Robert Habeck visited the school yesterday. We are working on many more good examples of the use of decentralised and green energy supporting Ukrainian citizens. On behalf of the German Government, GIZ Ukraine is also supporting critical infrastructure such as hospitals and kindergartens with solar panels and other energy supply. A hospital near to the front was recently equipped with solar panels and serves now 6000 patients – also in times of blackouts. Additionally, more than 4200 solar technicians, electricians, construction workers and other specialists have already been trained to assist Ukraine in the use and maintenance of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency. The focus is on "sustainable reconstruction", as Robert Kuenne Cluster Coordinator Energy and Climate Ukraine, reports. #GIZ

Political analysts are still sifting through the results of the recent French election and how the coalition of parties from the left (which won the most seats in parliament) will attempt to govern. The election will undoubtedly have an impact on the future of the French electricity market. However, there are a few important items which had been decided prior to the election. Specifically, France's ARENH system (which was France's compromise to the EU) will come to an end at the conclusion of 2025. That means one more year of deciding between an ARENH contract and the free market - a difficult choice. What comes after ARENH in 2026 is still an open question. Read more of #NUSConsultingGroup analysis of the French market and AREHN in our latest Market Intelligence publication - https://lnkd.in/ezVR7jqZ.

Ukraine, which has been defending itself against a Russian war of aggression for almost three years, is stopping the transit of Russian gas at the beginning of the year. A corresponding transit contract is expiring, and Kiev had announced long in advance that it would not be extended. In mid-December, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reiterated that his country would not allow Russia to earn "additional billions" with "our blood". The halt in transit poses problems in the EU for Slovakia, which has a long-term contract with the Russian company Gazprom, as well as for non-EU member Moldova. In 2023, EU member states covered less than ten percent of their natural gas needs with supplies from Russia, compared to over 40 percent in 2021. #Ukrainewar #Gasdeliveries

This info should stur great concern in the Danish political community and also with our neighbours south of Denmark! It may not materialize, but certainly a risk. May be it is urgent to consider the need for alternative electricity supply, also when the wind is not blowing and the sun is not shining. Gas power plants until SMR nuclear is around? More consultations with our neighbours must be needed in order to coordinate the build out of everyone's electricity infrastructure. It did not happen, alas, when the Germans shut down their nuclear facilities. The Ministry of Climate, Energy and UtilitiesDanish Energy Agency Energinet #dkpol #dkgreen #dienergi

The Agency for Business & Economic Development (AWE) provides a comprehensive overview of current tenders related to Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. These opportunities span various sectors, including energy, water, construction, healthcare, and agriculture. Notably, the European Union has committed up to €50 billion through the Ukraine Facility to support the country's rebuilding and sustainable transformation. To assist companies interested in participating, AWE offers the STEP (Successful Tenders and Procurement) program. This initiative includes monthly online "Deep Dive" sessions that provide in-depth information and networking opportunities focused on specific tenders. These sessions are designed to help businesses navigate the tendering process effectively. Highlighted tenders include: Priority Projects to Support Restoration of Safety, Security, and Infrastructure: Managed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), this project aims to restore safety and infrastructure at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, with a budget of €849,845. Zhytomyr Trolleybus II: Also under the EBRD, this project plans to expand Zhytomyr's public transport network by adding new trolleybus and electric bus routes, with a budget of €17 million. Supply and Installation of a Flue Gas Condenser: Facilitated by the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), this project focuses on enhancing energy efficiency in Lutsk's boiler house, with a budget of €1.04 million. Reconstruction of Water Supply System: Another NEFCO project, it aims to improve water and energy efficiency to reduce losses and enhance service quality, with a budget of €7.2 million. https://lnkd.in/g9nCGDJ2
