Amendment No. 13 to the Protection of Privacy Law was recently approved by the Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee and moves towards second and third readings in the Knesset. Apparently good news? The Protection of Privacy Law was approved in the Knesset in 1981, and since then went through mostly minor amendments. Due to that, there are significant gaps and uncertainties between the current reality and privacy challenges (in location data, AI and more), and the written law. Will the new amendment bridge the gap and overcome the technological, economic and security challenges Israel is facing? Will it help in dealing with information leaks and cyber attacks?
