Seed stage founders, when you finally receive that check, do this: Optimize for metrics that will help you reduce churn on good revenue. In this current VC environment, VCs will look for your startup's aptitude or capability for revenue growth rather than the revenue dollar currently generated. In the past few years, you only need a compelling story about the team's growth, the product's development, and a better understanding of the market. These days, you must deliver more than this to move from seed to Series A. You need to convince the VCs that you have commercial traction. To reach that stage, you need the right metrics to show you the data and help you identify leaks and opportunities. Beyond getting much love during sales demos, are your customers staying on the platform and using your product? ****************** Jenny Fielding of Everywhere Ventures, Kirby Winfield of Ascend, and Nate Williams of Union Labs Ventures shared many more insightful views on the current seed funding environment in Samir Kaji's latest Venture Unlocked episode. Attention Seed Founders: If you’re raising capital, this podcast episode is a must-listen. It features insights from the OG seed investor, Mike Maples, Jr, breaking down how seed funding really works—and why investors might say no. Spoiler: It’s not always about your company’s potential. Often, it’s because it doesn’t fit their model. Here’s why you should listen: > Understand the inner workings of seed investing. > Learn why some investors might pass, even if your startup is strong. > Decide whether angels or VCs are the better fit for your current stage. The episode uses some heavy investor jargon, so feel free to reach out if anything’s unclear. Use this knowledge to raise smarter and target the right investors for your startup. Link:

In 2015, this guy spent $50 to start a podcast and just last month, he raised a $400 million VC fund. If you haven’t heard of him, he is the founder of 20VC, Harry Stebbings. Who is he? Well, here’s a quick rundown: At 19 years old, he wanted to break into the venture capital world. Then, he started a podcast from his bedroom named “20VC podcast” and plans to foster and build relationships through interviews with founders and investors on his podcast. But he had: ↳ 0 industry experience ↳ 0 connections ↳ 0 credibility Over the next 10 years, he has interviewed thousands people to produce 20-minute short episodes, posting them online. As time goes, his content started to build trust, that is beyond 1-on-1 conversations. In 2020, he raised his first $8.3 million fund with help of the brand and media that he built. A month ago, he raised $400 million, one of the biggest venture funds in European history and he’s only 28. Now, he has a media team of 13 people, generating well over 15 million monthly views for him and his brand. He also describe 20VC is at “the intersection of media & venture capital”. The content he built brought him to where he and his business is today. Want to achieve what Harry did, I am working with B2B founders so that they can establish their brand. Drop a DM and let's connect! #Founder #Entrepreneur #venturecapital
