Today we want to share with you the speech of Valentina Cogliati (President and CEO of Elemaster Group) who on 13th May, thanks to the event Family Business Forum organized by Maria Silvia Sacchi and in collaboration with Confindustria Lecco e Sondrio, had the opportunity to express how truly sustainability is at the core of our work and life. Starting with the description of the concept, we are not only talking about environmental sustainability but also economic and social one; only by joining them together, we can achieve a true development. From here we can distinguish two key words: EcoDesign and internationalization. Starting with EcoDesign, by this term we mean the process from conception to disposal in an environmentally friendly way, a Life Cycle Design concept that is across any market sector. It should not be seen as an additional cost but as an opportunity for cost optimization. As a second keyword we have internationalization: sustainable innovation must be a key point for society and the environment in which we live. It also serves to acquire business opportunities and to maintain the ones we already have, increasingly seeking capital attraction and investors. What does it mean to be sustainable? The Treccani dictionary says, "Sustainability implies steady and preferably increasing well-being and the prospect of leaving future generations with a quality of life that is not inferior to the present one." So the answer to our question is: "only if we know how to remain true to our nature, to our value system and always put human beings at the centre of our actions, then we will know how to be truly sustainable and truly entrepreneurial." ✨One month ago, we came together to "Lead the Change" towards a sustainable future!✨ It was the first event in Stockholm of our series, with the theme of Sustainable Business Model Transformation. The fun and energizing evening on the Ascaro Padel rooftop brought together industry leaders and innovators for thought-provoking discussions on the future of #sustainability in #retail and #finance 🌍💚 Here are some key takeaways from our expert panelists: Reto Ringger (Globalance Bank Ltd.) highlighted the need to invest in long-term, innovative financial solutions: "We need to shift from a short-term focus to long-term strategies, rethinking how we regulate investments. Creative, long-term solutions are essential to solving sustainability challenges." Richard Woodbridge (Oscar Jacobson) emphasized the role of retail in guiding consumers: "Companies must create spaces and opportunities for customers to understand and make sustainable choices, while also taking responsibility themselves." Gerda Mazi Larsson (Curitas Ventures) stressed the dual responsibility of supporting sustainability: "It’s not just about betting on the future; it’s about our responsibility to support entrepreneurs who want to shape a sustainable world." Patrik Christiansen (mResell) showed how the business model can be a drive in itself: “Consumers are aware and we have demand, but mResell turned a new key by changing the business model with market connectivity to solve stock demand.” Anja Hannerz (Nordea) discussed sustainability as both a challenge and a business opportunity: "Sustainability is the biggest challenge we face, but also a business opportunity. A sustainable business model holds low risk, and in the long run, profitability and sustainability will go hand in hand." KONRAD BERGSTRÖM (X Shore) shared his vision for the electric revolution in boating: "In some places, legislation is pushing us towards all-electric boats, and experiencing the power of silence on the water will drive that change even further." 2024 has been quite a year for our team and our company. ✨Here are some highlights and 2025 prospects: 2024: 🏆At a sudden point, people were joking my job seemed to consist of receiving awards haha. Our company came into the national spotlight several recognitions: -Belgian Changemakers Award 2024, by De Tijd, L'Echo and BNP Paribas Fortis . -Belgian industrial water innovation award by B-IWA (Belgian-International Water Association) and watercircle.be -JCI (Junior Chamber International) Entrepreneur of the year in the province of East Flanders Awards are not the best proof of success and we’ve always been looking at them quite rationally. However, it just made our team (and customers) super proud. This energy is something we’ll certainly use in 2025. And I was amazed how awards help building a brand. The spotlight is something young innovative businesses can really use. We believe we’ve won those awards because we aim for big change, not just incremental innovation. 🌍We travelled the world to change our industry for the better. Multiple countries in Europe, US, Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand… yet: we also developed significant business in our home country Belgium 🇧🇪 and of course with our great neighbours Netherlands 🇳🇱 🎪We moved to the iconic tech hub Wintercircus Ghent . One of the key highlights in 2024. And 2025? This year will be a year of significant growth. 🚀We’re establishing major contracts with key customers around the globe. Bigger, long-term, strategic, fun. ⚙️Our team is working hard on tomorrow’s solutions, tackling key global water challenges. 📈We are positioning ourselves as a leader in our digital water niche and are establishing key partnerships with major industry players. 😇Personally, I’ll be involved in some new key boards and strategic exercises with companies and customers. I’ll also be a jury member of Changemakers 2025. And I think I can find some more equilibrium between my family and business. Thanks all of you here on LinkedIn for the continuous support.
