Carers deserve careers too. This year I nominated Briohny Powell for the Financial Newswire Women In Wealth Awards. Here is why. Briohny has been a financial adviser for over a decade, but it’s the work she does in her community through her church that helped her realise her #Leadership capabilities. Briohny put herself forward for a range of leadership initiatives at UniSuper, including our Aspiring Leaders program, and today she advises clients AND leads a team of financial advisers. But wait, there’s even more… Briohny is part of the workforce of women who #WorkPartTime due to #Carer responsibilities. Briohny helps to care for her elderly mother who has #dementia. She’s also a mother to four daughters, and grandmother to three grandchildren (and counting!).
