Why are we tolerating this? 🤦♀️ We’re witnessing, on a global scale, what happens when someone completely unfit for leadership is put in a role they are not qualified for. We’ve seen this happen in organizations, where the impact and damage is usually somewhat contained. But when it happens at the level of world leaders, the consequences are dire—destroying lives in the process. Yesterday was a reminder of what happens when someone with the emotional intelligence of a teenager is given too much power. You could take a checklist of what not to do as a leader and start ticking items off. 🗑️ Having the patience to endure a bully’s insults with composure is admirable. But the fact that it’s necessary is beyond frustrating. Brené Brown once said: “We cannot selectively numb emotions. When we numb the painful emotions, we also numb the positive emotions.” So here’s how I feel: embarrassed, sad, angry, frustrated, and exhausted. In my work, one of my core goals is to increase fairness. Watching this level of unfairness unfold is painful. 😤 (Feeling the same, Oksana, same…)
I am with you, besides violating any idea of fairness, we witness behaviours that invalidate decency, even humanity. There are no humanistic values in this fake leadership display. Just brute force and pressure! For me the worst moment was to see high level leaders laughing at one of the most idiotic question about why Z does not wear a suit?! What a disgrace 🤮. I felt all emotions you mentioned and a deep disappointment of where we are in human evolution. It seems we rolling back in many ways, instead of evolving. To hit this low, in such context, its unacceptable in diplomacy and should not be acceptable in any context.
I can’t speak for all U.S. citizens but I promise many are disgusted, confused, and embarrassed. https://www.threads.net/@ryan_bradley4/post/DGqklOjsBmh?xmt=AQGzVj7UIcAF4tNkwplj772AMhumoWdpetzwidi1s9i3CA
Almost all the questions asked by the VP of US was not necessary.
I’m still speechless about this. Is trump really this stupid or if knew what he was doing then he would be just disgrace for humanity. I just ask: How. Do American people understand this? Do they really? I’m truly proud of our former president Martti Ahtisaari. He’s contributing was not only for Finland but for the whole world, we would need his negotiation skills… world needs.
Thank you for voicing this, Evert Kraav. As Kaja Kallas said: “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader.”
What happened at the Oval office will not only effect one persons life but the millions just for one persons ability not to perform well
Very well said Evert and thank you for sharing it here.
I’m with you, Evert. Painful and embarrassing to watch. Bullying is not ok.
