In a new article for Automotive News, Envorso CEO Scott Tobin offers automakers a tip: don’t pull back on software-defined vehicles amid lagging EV sales. “It is important for the industry to remember that the vast majority of new vehicle software architectures are just as relevant for new and updated ICE and hybrid models as the new EV models.” Read Scott’s full article: https://lnkd.in/g6s-Rj5i #software #automotive #SDV

As global automakers plan new model launches for the next four years, changes in EV demand and public policies are causing significant adjustments. Detroit’s Big Three are delaying new EV models and prioritizing hybrids and ICE vehicles, impacting suppliers who invested heavily in EV transitions. Read our Alvarez & Marsal monthly North America auto newsletter and learn about EV models postponements at Detroit's Big Three, their future model lineup, the associated EV/ICE/Hybrid strategies. No doubt that SUVs and pick-ups are back and stronger than ever. Given political uncertainties (certainties ?) in US / Europe and current economic environment, it confirms that the EV ramp-up has more than slowed-down. EV start-ups face terrible difficulties and traditional OEMs need to remain agile to deal with this volatile context (VW has both decided to re-invest in its ICE portfolio and to join forces with Rivian for EV & software...). And Chinese OEMs prepare for the next step with big investment in Mexico and Central Europe... #automotive #EVs #SoftwareDefinedVehicle #MandA #turnaround #rampup #COEMs

#Automotive #Embedded The high purchase price of an electric vehicle (EV) remains one of the biggest barriers for potential buyers on a global scale1. EVs are currently more expensive to build than traditional gasoline-powered cars, primarily because of the high costs associated with advanced battery and e-motor technology. The near-term solution is to enhance the efficiency of … Read More → "Intel’s New SoC Solution Accelerates Electric Vehicle Innovation, Slashing Costs" https://lnkd.in/dnjKfXzu

I have a rule of thumb for data like this: No automotive survey data is valid unless it's segmented by OEM. Across topics such as EV ownership, in-vehicle software, and the buying experience, automakers deliver vastly different experiences to entirely different customer segments. If you don't have crosstabs, you don't have a survey. https://lnkd.in/gQbcPDFc

This one’s true, but not by much. Hybrid cars typically cost slightly more to service than traditional fuel cars. This is primarily due to the additional components involved in the hybrid system, such as the electric motor, battery, and associated electronics. TrueOrFalse
