Did you know that one of the top skill sets that employers are looking for is durable skills? In addition to core content, skills like critical thinking, effective communication, team collaboration, and creativity – as well as character skills like fortitude, growth mindset, and leadership need to be taught. What's more is that these skills can be applied to any job in any industry. We owe it to students to help them develop and refine these skills so they're ready for the future. Implementing lessons and activities that focus on creative responses and solutions help stimulate communication and social functions. There's a direct correlation between creativity in the classroom and childhood/adolescent development of communication and social skills. Creativity-centered classrooms allow students room for risk, growth, and innovation. Plus, it's way more fun for students and teachers! Students deserve spaces where they feel safe enough to learn content in creative ways and practice their durable skills. They need to be able to take risks that might not turn out the way they expected, and communicate their needs effectively. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Biotechnology Research have been a constant across my Life Science work, I look forward to learning more and keeping up to date with industry trends. 👯𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: I competed at a young age doing Irish Dancing. My Aunty and I formed quite the duo. Videos? They exist. Am I looking to rewatch them? I'm in no hurry! ✨𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗲: I am excited about being part of a team I firmly believe can add great value to the Life Science industry. We are a tight-knit unit who are open minded to continuously learn. Focusing on our desired niches allows us to become more specialised. 👀𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:"It's hard to beat a person who never gives up." My key takeaway from this quote is that in more difficult times, it is imperative to persevere and learn. Challenges are inevitable, working hard to overcome them is the controllable that is essential. Never give up.

Meet Natasha! ⭐ 💭 What is your role? How long have you been in the team? 🗣️ In 2021, I joined the Policy and Economics team in Sustainable Agriculture Systems as a Social Science Consultant. My role mainly involves behavioural research and stakeholder engagement. This includes interviewing farmers, facilitating workshops with industry stakeholders or developing surveys. All of these are done predominantly online. As I work remotely, I try to take up any opportunity which enables me to learn or meet people away from my desk. 💭 What is your background and how did you come to be in this role? 🗣️ I did not know what to do after I studied Business at The University of Manchester, I worked for other engineering companies and travelled around Asia, Australia and Europe. One day, I was living in Hong Kong and my housemate and I felt a bit lost in our job roles. We asked each other which topic would we enjoy learning something about every day for the rest of our lives, for him it was international politics and for me it was food. I packed my things and went to Newcastle University to study an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Policy. I had a great Supervisor and this led me onto a PhD in behavioural economics, investigating sustainable food choices in the supermarket. 💭 What is your favourite part about your role? Is there a particular project that you worked on that was interesting? 🗣️ I enjoy learning from the experts I communicate with daily. That is not just ADAS colleagues, that includes the farmers I talk to who teach me more about the practicalities of agriculture, industry stakeholders who share their thoughts on the complexities of external factors or our clients who inform me about policies or markets. 💭 What do you get up to in your spare time? What are your hobbies? 🗣️ I am not going to pretend I am sophisticated, in my spare time I watch the Real Housewives and too many YouTube videos! I have definitely found that I have gained a lot from opportunities peripheral to my job, which help develop my transferable skills to do my job. This includes being an ADAS Trade Union Representative and co-founder of the ADAS Business and Career (ABC) development Network.

As a perfectionist, I've often faced the idea that being a perfectionist is a flaw. But is it really?
