I try to not be vulnerable on this platform because somewhere deep down I have a voice that tells me that this is a sign of weakness. I am doing my best to quiet that voice to tell a bit about my story. In late 2022, my husband (Tim) was diagnosed with ALS and since then we've been on quite a journey of adjusting our life to accommodate his changing needs as his body loses functionality. For people who are unaware, the average lifespan for someone diagnosed with ALS is 2-5 years. Let me tell you, it has been rough. He needs mobility devices to get around, he can barely use his arms and hands, and his voice has changed so much from this disease, I didn't recognize how he used to sound in old videos. Given our limited remaining time together, I've taken on caregiving to be with him and support him as much as I can. My last contracted job ended at the end of November 2023 and at the time I was okay with a little break since Tim had recently broken his collar bone due to falls caused by his mobility issues. We were also having an elevator installed in our home because we have a 3-story townhouse style condo which was being paid for by savings, loans, and a gofundme and being able to be home for that process was helpful. Yes, I realize that this a privileged position, but moving to another home was far more expensive than the elevator and accessible apartments were pretty much unfindable. I was still applying for jobs for work, but I really needed something that was going to be flexible. I found out fast that the employers I contacted early on didn't really want to be flexible and wanted a butt in a seat. In January, I decided that to have a job that would have flexible hours, I'd need to create my own so I started by launching my consulting business and had everything finalized by February. I was still job hunting on the side to maintain unemployment benefits, but began doing outreach for clients and paid for coaching to get ramped up. In March and April, nothing had really come to fruition and in May I began working with a lead generation team to see if I could get in front of more clients which led to an additional outlay of cash and ultimately a process that didn't really work for me. Unfortunately, it ended in me taking a pretty serious hit to my confidence and an unclear path forward. As we move into August, I have been thinking more about what I need to do to ensure my family has enough money to pay bills while still having the flexibility to be a caregiver and spending quality time with Tim. Money is important, but our limited remaining time is non-negotiable. With that in mind, I'm exploring any of the following opportunities: Contracted work through my business Part-time on-site or hybrid work (50% for fully on-site, 60-75% for hybrid) Part-time to full-time remote work (60-75% for set hours, 100% for flexible hours) Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Dear Newbie, I once was going to commit suicide whilst working in a financial services firm some years ago!! I worked as Regulatory compliance assistant again 😂😂😂 but now another company and i remember every night, during my commuting everyday, I was soooo depressed that I really used to plan how I would go to thirdmainland bridge and jump over the bridge and I was seriously contemplating it but for the thought of my mother 😬😒 I remember my boss always using strong words on me and talking down me and embarrassing me because in her words, my work was rubbish and I was lazy 😂😂😂 DEAR CEOs and MANAGERs, let the NEWBIES BReeeeett o 😂😂😂 Anyway, i lost confidence in my ability to deliver excellent work, I got tired, I got used to the name calling, that I started to believe I could be anything good😂😂😂😏 Do you know, that YOUR SELF PERCEPTION IS EVERYTHING? DO you know that the source of your self-perception truly is a compass? If you cannot envision yourself as valuable, if you cannot believe in yourself as valuable and trust that you have it in you, THEN YOU CANNOT SHOW UP AS HIGH VALUE. Showing up as High Value is not you trying to prove anything, but simply recognizing WHAT YOU HAVE THE CAPACITY TO BEING TO THE TABLE!! Don’t ever let anyone look down on you, because your a NEWBIE IN THE OFFICE 😂😂 Let me tell you what changed my perception, it was having the right people around me, having the right resources and information to change my self-perception. You too will require the right community, the right tools, templates, network of people and a pool of information that will support your journey!!!! YOU ARE FIRED, WE ARE SORRY TO LET YOU GO, we are sorry we are closing the company. 😭😭😭😭 The above words are the most painful statement anyone should not be subjected to. Have you noticed that the time you lose your job is when you really need that job the most? It was one Friday evening when one of my former employers, Kelvin, called me to his office. We really like you, but unfortunately, we must let you go. We have found someone who can do your job better. 😭😭😭😭 For a moment my world stopped, I lost it, my head spined fast, my heart was beating fast, I was trembling and tears were rolling down my chicks. How could this happen? I had a family to feed, bills to pay, and plans, and just like that, everything was lost. 😭😭😭😭 I walked out of that office feeling empty, 😭😭😭😭 my mind was flat, my heart was flat, and my flesh was numb. Where was I going to start? How was I going to tell my family I lost my job? How would I say to my kids that I couldn’t buy them food anymore? I cleared my desk and walked home, weeping inside. Upon getting home, my kids welcomed me; they were happy to see me getting home from work. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I locked myself in my bedroom, switched off my mobile, and went straight to bed. If you have ever gone through this, you must clearly understand what I am talking about. My wife could not withstand the pain. What are we going to do? We have loans to pay for things that were going to be taken care of. God, why now? Why me? And why this time? I have gone through too much pain; I have lost it all, not once, not twice, but many times. Many people ask me why I am good and always willing to help people, including those I don’t know. Yes, it's because we grow by lifting others, putting a smile on someone's face, and being human to people doesn’t make us lose what we have. On this platform, we can help people just by listening, encouraging, advising, recommending, and sharing. We can not help everyone, but we can certainly help someone. Sleep, energy, IBS, autoimmune issues, stress, anxiety,... 😎Ask about those before and after pictures you can't get out of your head. 💲Ask how to dig yourself out of debt. 😊Ask about fun trips, cars, and the extras you don't get at your current job. 👨👩👧👧Ask how to grow a legacy career to leave to your kids or to make enough to have a date night. 🎯Ask about GLP-1 and weight loss. Ask about MY health, how I pulled my family out of debt. And feel free to ask what my future will look like bc I asked these same questions to others.😉 I have some time next week to hang bc my boss says I can 🤗 If you've read this far then it means you're interested.

I am exhausted. I can’t play the game anymore; that’s not me. I can’t pretend my profile picture reflects my true self and fear when an employer sees my tattoos. In reality, I sit at my desk in pajamas for 8 hours, praying that today will be the day something sticks. That today will be the day my phone rings and it isn’t a scammer or debt collector, but an interview request. I’ve been waking up and staying on the same schedule as I was employed, for some sense of normalcy, but there is only so long until I break. It’s not client emails I wake up to and find flooding my inbox throughout the day, but rejections. How much can one person take? And you all have the gall to ask me to take a 30-minute assessment before I am even prequalified? I’m sorry but get over yourself. Today I decided to send a response. Corporate Greed and capitalism have broken the system. It’s done. I am done. I can’t stand these motivational speeches about eating PB&J's and really doing the dirty work. Guess what? My landlord doesn’t care and I have no one to fall back on. My leasing company was just raided by the FBI for a price-fixing scheme! The fact that I'm genuinely considering adding my disability to my resume should tell you something. It’s 2024 and things are changing rapidly. Companies, hiring managers, and leaders need to look around. My feed is full of people begging for a break and my weekends are full of friends who don’t even know where to start with this site. The pretentious class system is getting out of control and it’s beyond ridiculous. We all need help. And fast. End of rant. Going to snuggle my dog now. 😪

This is only a piece, one small percentage of what is wrong during the hiring process. Unreasonable expectations, AI driven applicant selections, sometimes a total lack of communication, false representation of the role (bait & switch style), all of these set the stage for a burned out, often desperate, _tired_ workforce. We can do better. We can support each other better, and change old or negative hiring practices. Please don't just look away and pretend it's not happening.

Relationships are Everything...... We all have experienced getting looked over for someone that had a connection. It's the reality of life. In our business, we build the most by clients referring us. We could have the strongest performance of any firm for the last 40 years and this wouldn't mean anything to people without a personal referral. I've had a few situations where a friend in the business hooked us up when pipes broke in the house.......put to the front of the line......saved days, if not weeks, of waiting for help. But that didn't come from getting to know him that day with the first phone call. It came from a previous relationship over time. We don't always need our doctors advice until we need help. If we don't have an established connection, most doctors will put you on the list and you get to wait however long until you get to see them. If you personally know the doctor, you may get in tomorrow. Chaos will hit your life. Medical. Financial. Health. Weather. Car wrecks. The relationships you've built before this will determine the recovery. Maintaining relationships is of the upmost importance......but you won't know how important until chaos hits. I'm a huge fan of the Go-Giver book and the thought of helping provide value and help to the world with the intention of being valuable to others. In turn, it is likely that when you need others, you'll have doors opened in the future based on relationships built that you never even ask for.....they just happen. Do good. Help people. You work 8 hours to live 4. You work 5 days to enjoy 2. You work 8 hours to eat in 15 minutes. You work 8 hours to sleep 6 You work all year just to take a week or two vacation. You work all your life to retire in old age. And watch only your last breaths. Eventually, you realize that life is nothing but a parody of yourself practicing your own oblivion.
