Nature has spent billions of years evolving enzymes as a method for efficient catalysis, but most industrially relevant chemical reactions are not found in nature. We are building generative models that learn from natural enzymes to design new-to-nature enzymes that enable efficient biocatalysis throughout the $6 trillion chemical industry. We are a team of 4 Oxford AI researchers and scientists who moved to San Francisco to start Ligo. We are looking to expand the team and excited to meet curious, smart, fun people looking for a new opportunity in AI for Science. We are in the UK for a few weeks recruiting for deep learning researchers and wet lab scientists - tag recommendations and warm intro via [email protected] (you can recommend yourself!) Genuinely my perspective of this is that you should be open to people from Universities in Northern Ireland and Scotland if you want the best UK students. Lots of people I know from there don't go to England to study because of respective cheaper fees or no fees back home. I understand choosing these 3 unis is a great to narrow the list of candidates, but it's still sad to see.
