Visibility for educators is a key decision-making factor, when it comes to adopting whole-institution generative AI for students. A survey was sent to university senior executives in APAC, UK, Europe, North America, Middle East, and Africa to gauge sentiment around the use of generative AI in universities for students. n = 78 senior executives. #highereducation #AiForLearning

How can we effectively embed generative AI in university curricula? This important question was recently explored by MIT’s Professor Eric Grimson during his lecture at Loughborough Business School. Professor Grimson emphasised the need for students to develop strong analytical, critical, and algorithmic thinking skills. Regardless of their specific area of study, it is essential for students to understand the immense potential of AI technologies. This typically necessitates an interdisciplinary approach, which can be challenging within traditionally structured curricula focused on mastering the fundamentals of a single discipline. There are no easy answers, but it is certainly food for thought! Many thanks to Professor Grimson… #GenerativeAI #Education #InterdisciplinaryLearning #AIinEducation

This was an excellent presentation by Sarah Elaine Eaton, PhD on the impact that #ArtificialIntelligence continues to have on teaching and learning. My main takeaways: 1. To remember to encourage students to view AI as a *tool* and not as a replacement for critical thinking. 2. That AI literacy training should be implemented in K-12 as well as post-secondary. 3. And, as always, to focus on collaborative student-centred learning when designing lessons and assessments. I can't wait for the next session.

Hot off the digital presses: An overview of the problems associated with using LLMs for teaching and learning. Benjamin Riley takes a pragmatic approach that mixes skepticism and empirical investigation. The best thing about this publication is its focus on practical advice for teachers trying to make sense of AI.
Today my new venture Cognitive Resonance is releasing its first publication, titled the Education Hazards of Generative AI—you can download it through the link below. If this document resonates with you, I hope you will share it widely in your networks and via social media. The stakes of AI in education are high, and we should work to clarify misconceptions about how these tools work—and the education hazards they pose. https://lnkd.in/gKYjSDGZ
