A very insightful report from Institute For Fiscal Studies regarding Sure Start impact. Especially insightful is the return of taxpayer investment costs and the benefit to society. Those not familiar with Sure Start families in England (and different interations elsewhere in the UK) to access free support (paid by taxpayers) for their children up until the age of 5 to ensure they had a secure start to education thereafter. It is worrying that 350 million children globally need childcare but do not have access. Whereas learning poverty is escalating at a faster rate affecting 70% of children in LMICs, early childhood development and education still faces acute frameworks to implement policies currently in place. As advocates in this space, we continue to compell responsible authorities and stakeholders not to relent but increase on strategic investment in this critical period. Remember! poor foundation equals future persistent crisis in learning, socio-economic, and governance space for current and future generations! #Quality early care!# Increased school readiness and productive generations!

This day reminds us of the promises we've made to protect the rights and futures of children worldwide. 🌍 World Day Against Child Labour – 12 June 2024 🌍 👉 Child labour steals childhood, hinders education, and perpetuates the cycle of poverty. It's time we turn our words into actions. Let's ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, play, and grow in a safe environment. Let's stand together and urge #governments, #businesses, and individuals to work hand in hand and take meaningful actions. Together, we can build a world where every child is free from exploitation and given the chance to thrive. Join me in this vital mission. Speak out, support policies, and contribute to initiatives that fight against child labour. Every action counts, and together, we can make a difference. A whole-government approach to building a future of certainty recognizes that children's long-term well-being is influenced by various factors beyond healthcare. Social determinants like education, housing, economic stability, and emotional support are pivotal in shaping a child's development. Establishing a Ministry of Children enables governments to coordinate efforts across sectors, addressing the multifaceted needs of children from birth to adolescence. This holistic approach paves the way for a society that prospers through the well-being of its youngest members. #ChildrensWellBeing #GovernmentInitiative #FutureLeaders https://lnkd.in/d2d8tpuy

Better early childhood education and care policies aren't just about investing more, but about investing more efficiently. That’s one of the recommendations of a new OECD report that outlines a new policy roadmap to ensure all young children can go to high-quality creches, nurseries and kindergartens. At the moment: ▶️ Disadvantaged children are less likely to participate in early childhood education and care. ▶️ In eight out of 28 OECD countries with room for improvement, socio-economic gaps have widened for children aged 3 to 5. ▶️ Disadvantaged children often receive lower-quality early education and care services. Many OECD countries can, and should, do better!
