Did You Know? The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is reinforcing Order No. 2023, increasing accountability and penalties for transmission owners who fail to respond to interconnection requests in a timely manner. “For the last decade, Utilities have slow-walked interconnection applications and failed to make progress on their own, causing a massive, two-terawatt backlog of solar and storage assets waiting for permission to connect to the grid. These new rules will establish clear expectations for all parties involved in the interconnection process and outline consequences for inaction.” – CleanTechnica This is a huge step in the right direction. Compared to the electricity transmission infrastructure required to meet the growing energy demand, the current pace of building grid infrastructure is inadequate, with planning and permitting often taking 5 to 15 years. To turn the tide, BESS manufacturers have become a key piece of the puzzle. By directly connecting BESS to the high-voltage transmission network, it offers a game-changing solution for alleviating the strain on the grid and supporting decarbonization. Cubenergy has been providing large-scale BESS, as a transmission-connected solution, in Nordic Europe, America, and China. Our BESS solutions deliver balancing services such as frequency response to the national grid, enabling greater flexibility and facilitating the integration of more distributed renewable generation. Considering the diverse Grid Code requirements across regions and TSOs/DSOs, we fine-tune our systems to ensure optimal performance and seamless integration with each grid. #energystorage #bess #grid #renewableenergy #energytransition #ess #energysolution

🚨 FERC's New Rule on Transmission Planning and Cost Allocation 🚨 Recently, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a pivotal final rule to reform the regional transmission planning and cost allocation process governing America’s transmission system. This landmark decision marks a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and resilience of the US national grid. Key Highlights of the Reform: 📈 Enhanced Planning: a forward-looking transmission planning process that better accommodates future demand and renewable energy integration 💰 Cost Allocation: a more transparent cost allocation mechanism that ensures the costs of new transmission projects are equitably distributed among beneficiaries 🤝 Stakeholder Engagement: increased involvement of utilities, state regulators and other stakeholders to foster collaboration in the planning process. This reform is a critical milestone in the modernization of America's energy infrastructure, driving down costs and paving the way for a cleaner more sustainable energy future ⚡ #Energy #FERC #TransmissionReform #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #GridModernization #EnergyPolicy

Severe weather and evolving capacity rules are reshaping the grid. How do we ensure reliability while accelerating interconnection? Flexible generation is key. As ISOs downgrade accredited capacity, planners must integrate fast-ramping, modular solutions to support renewables and storage. However, outdated interconnection processes can slow progress. At GridUnity, we streamline interconnection to ensure the grid is fast, flexible, and future-ready. #GridPlanning #Interconnection #FlexibleGeneration #EnergyTransition #GridResilience https://lnkd.in/gbuBKsR8

The future grid demands flexibility and speed—not just in real-time operations but in planning and interconnection. Outdated processes shouldn’t slow down the resources we need for reliability. It’s time for a smarter approach to integrating flexible generation alongside renewables and storage. #gridunity #interconnection

⚡ The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Order 1920 represents a monumental step forward in the energy sector by calling upon past practices. ⚡ The order aims to focus on long-range planning requirements for electric transmission providers. The order pivots from the near-term planning methods to more conventional long-range planning methods with twenty-year planning horizons. This shift aims to improve: ▪ Collaboration among transmission providers and state/federal processes on a regional basis ▪ Enhance cost allocation methods ▪ Unlock nationwide renewable energy sources ▪ Support electrification-driven load growth ▪ Enhance resiliency against extreme events while accommodating clean energy sources. This new development brings a sense of nostalgia for the long-term transmission planners from the classical perspective taken more than 20 years ago, and it's a decision that many would reason is long overdue. To learn more about navigating long term transmission planning, speak to one of our transmission & interconnection experts at https://www.enernex.com/ (Tom Jones, PE) #TransmissionPlanning #FERCorder1920 #GridModernization
