Some of my connections here may be aware that my nephew, Cian died unexpectedly from a short illness 8 weeks ago at the age of 21 Even without my bias as a proud uncle, I can say wholeheartedly that Cian was an incredible young man who's fortitude, charisma and intellect foretold the impact he was going to have. While the world will be worse off without Cian, I hope that the foundation his parents have created will allow other young people to fulfil their potential. Recognising how hard it is for philanthropic organisations to have a material impact, the foundation will support smaller charitable organisations through some direct funding, but also via support to connect with sources of funding that may otherwise be unknown or seemingly out of reach To my LinkedIn connections I would welcome support you could offer. Not only as request for donations but also as advice and 3rd party connections in order to build this funding ecosystem for smaller organisations that support the development of young people like Cian. Thank you
Personal announcement and plea I am uncomfortable about posting this on LinkedIn, but it is for a good cause. Please share at your discretion by 'Liking' and re-posting. My son Cian died suddenly and unexpectedly of natural causes eight weeks ago today, in January 2025 age just 21. Throughout his all too short time with us Cian had an active, diverse, and fun-filled life that was encouraged and supported by a close network of family and friends. As a result Cian had a passion for music, enjoyed many sports, loved his academic life, had a wide group of friends, and was just starting to build the network of contacts that were going to be the launch pad of his career. He had done all the hard preparatory work, and was getting ready to light his blue touch paper. We were all excited to see what he was going to do next. In memory of Cian, his family have started the process of setting up a charitable foundation that will focus on small, marginalised charities and clubs which offer projects, programmes, or experiences that promote the development of young people whose circumstances mean that they may not have the financial and/or emotional support that they need, the support which Cian benefited so much from. If you want to get a sense of who Cian was and how much people thought of him please read some of the comments that have been left on the Crowdfunding page, these provide a glimpse of the man he was about to become. This is a personal plea from me to my network. The majority of you won't have met Cian. But most of you will know me. If I have ever helped you in any way, whether through work or even by just posting something that you found useful or informative, I am using this forum to ask you to consider paying it forward, by making a donation to Cian's foundation using the link below. The more funds we raise, the more Cian's Foundation will be able to achieve. The Foundation's constitution has been registered with the Charities Commission, pending review. All money donated to the crowd fund will be transferred to the Foundation. Thank you so much. Clive. https://lnkd.in/e9hTt2YM
