I recently returned from a two-week trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the Umrah pilgrimage. Alhamdulilah, everything went smoothly—lots of prayers, deep thoughts, and a sense of peace. This trip, compared to my visit just a year ago, really highlighted how Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Vision 2030 is taking shape. It’s not just about the impressive skyscrapers or the glamour; what truly stands out is the increasing participation of Saudi citizens in the workforce and the seamless systems being put in place to enhance the experience for pilgrims. Take the نُسُك -Nusuk app, for example. Initially just for booking Umrah, Hajj, and Rawdah appointments, it has now evolved into a full-fledged platform. From a Nusuk Wallet backed by mada | مدى to booking airline tickets or High-speed Haramain Railway tickets, everything feels more streamlined and convenient. One of the coolest features? A mosque status tracker that helps you plan your prayer visits based on available space—innovative and practical! Saudi Arabia has made remarkable strides in preserving its historical and religious sites while making them more accessible than ever for pilgrims and tourists. In Madinah, the focus on creating a walk-friendly environment has transformed the experience of exploring sites of immense religious significance. The Quba Street, stretching from Masjid-e-Nabwi to the Quba Mosque, is a perfect example of this transformation. This time, I limited my trip to Makkah and Madinah, but inshallah, with the help of Visit Saudi’s user-friendly resources, I hope to explore more of the Kingdom next time. Imagine combining a spiritual journey with experiences like watching the Formula 1 race in Jeddah, exploring Al Ula’s historical beauty, a day or two in Riyadh, or even seeing the futuristic vision of NEOM and The Line taking shape.
