If anyone is in Brussels right now, let me know so we can connect at AFCEA International TechNet International. I will be giving a talk on the role of military software developers. As we build more cloud capabilities for NATO operations, we need more soldiers that are proficient in software development to develop and adapt new capabilities. As this becomes more common, the alliance has the potential to unleash the tech ecosystems of all member states to enhance the alliance. This will require the right leaders implementing the right policies, and from what I am seeing, NATO is on the right path.
Join us tomorrow at AFCEA Europe's TechNet International for a talk by Enrique Oti, CTO of Second Front! 🛡️ Topic: Building Software Warriors for Software Defined Defence Discover how rapidly changing technologies in Ukraine are redefining warfare. Enrique will explore the integration of NATO systems using commercial clouds, setting a precedent for future interoperability. 👥 Learn how soldiers and software engineers can bridge the gap, creating a “digital backbone” that keeps NATO at the cutting edge. See you there! https://ow.ly/6hUF50Sa35u #TechNetInternational #DefenceTech

Quantum technology in security and defense is identified as a key emerging technology whose potential applications can allow it to expand its capabilities. These technologies are getting closer to revolutionizing the world of innovation and could change the rules of security, including modern warfare. For any new innovative technology, it is necessary to set the right strategic approach. The NATO Quantum Strategy is the first strategic document approved by the NATO Foreign Ministers, as in January 2024. NATO published a summary of the document. The strategy outlines how quantum can be applied to defense and security, and helps promote and guide NATO‘s collaboration with industry to develop a transatlantic quantum technology ecosystem. Quantum technology is one of the technology areas that NATO Allies prioritize, and it is therefore necessary for all countries to develop a clear approach to development and deployment. #quantumcomputing #quantumcryptography #quantumsecurity

The dynamic security landscape demands that NATO continuously improve its command and control capabilities, and #NATO is committed to meeting this demand. Through rigorous testing and increased connectivity, the Alliance is now more capable than ever before. This ensures that future military capabilities are designed to be interoperable, which ultimately saves time, money, and most importantly, lives. One excellent example of this is the NATO Medical Management Prototype, a ground-breaking software developed by Allied experts. This software, tested at NATO’s largest interoperability exercise #CWIX, is designed to track patients across the area of operation, helping to make the most effective decisions. For 25 years, NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)-led event CWIX has provided an arena for NATO and nations to test the technology and standards needed to exchange and share information across all domains. This contributes to NATO's future as an Multi-Domain Operations-enabled Alliance, fuelled by #DigitalTransformation. The volume of #commandandcontrol capabilities testing across 18 focus areas is increasing yearly, with CWIX24 featuring 490 capabilities - a twenty percent increase from last year. It is imperative that NATO is more interoperable, proficient, and able to operate in unison, and CWIX enables this mission, providing nations with the benefit of ensuring their command and control systems are deployment-ready. #WeAreNATO #future #managment #medical
