Dayton Children's Hospital’s Post

Today, on rare disease day, we invite you to meet Rudy - a fearless 13-year-old with a love for soccer, swimming, and adventure. But what you don’t see behind his energetic smile is the incredible journey he’s been on. Born with a rare condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevi, Rudy’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the life-changing care he found at Dayton Children’s Hospital. From countless surgeries to fulfilling his dream of swimming in the Pacific Ocean, Rudy’s unstoppable spirit shines through it all. Thanks to the care of Dr. Salim Mancho and the incredible team at Dayton Children’s, Rudy isn’t just thriving—he’s inspiring everyone around him.
