Putting artificial intelligence to work

California Law SB 1120 has gone into effect, and prohibits health insurance providers from denying claims solely based on an algorithmic decision. This means that "yes" decisions can be automated, but "no" decisions must be routed to a human expert reviewer for a final decision. The law is intended to disallow mass automated rejections, as has happened before, and matches how most health insurers already operate. https://lnkd.in/gKDx_XVa #healthcare #ai #regulation

I work for the prior authorization and the amount of denial I’ve seen is ridiculous. With all the information received from these doctors and some of the members do meet the criteria but yet still the medication is being denied. If these insurance companies are using AI to make the decision rather than a human it’s definitely not working

Despite the challenges of the system, this is a great example of how humans and automation can work together for the best results. I'm happy to know how John Snow Labs is making this difference with responsible AI
