Dear Network, Last Sept I drove from the UK to the borders of Ukraine in a convoy of pickup trucks loaded with Humanitarian Aid for the people of Ukraine in conjunction with the charity #ukrainianactionuk. The good news is that I will be doing the same journey again this month, the month of my birthday. I want to give hope to the people that they have not been forgotten. As a charity (charity no.1202133), every donation, no matter how small, can create positive change. For just £10, you can provide lunch for 10 kids in an orphanage. It's important to remember that this amount is equivalent to the cost of one person's lunch in the City of London. By donating £6, you can supply vitamins for one child for an entire month. This amount is also equivalent to the cost of a pint, cocktail, or a glass of wine - you name it! We are a dedicated team of volunteers from Salesforce who are passionate about supporting the people of Ukraine affected by the war. Our goal is to deliver pick-up trucks filled with critical humanitarian supplies directly to Ukrainians in need. In mid-May 2024, we have planned a convoy departure from London on Friday, driving through France, Belgium and Germany before aiming to arrive in Poland by Sunday lunchtime. Once in Poland, we will hand over the trucks to another group of volunteers who will continue their journey into Ukraine. Since March 2022, Ukrainian Action has already raised over $4m and successfully delivered more than 260 trucks to Ukraine. Stand Up for Humanity, Justice and Peace This conflict in Gaza is claiming the lives of thousands of innocent civilians—men, women, and children. The escalating violence and devastation demand positive action from our government and we must advocate for the protection of innocent lives on all sides and hold those responsible to account on a global stage. Every innocent life taken is horrific and there is no justification for it. It is crucial that humanitarian aid reaches those in desperate need as the situation continues to worsen. Like everyone else, I am at a loss as to what I can do. But I can offer crowdfunding and fundraising advice for anyone in the UK who wants to learn how to raise money for charities supporting civilians affected in this conflict. These vehicles—4x4s, ambulances, and other vital transport—are purchased and modified in the UK by a team of dedicated volunteers. Sumy region needs help. In the past months, local villages and towns in the northeastern part of Ukraine have been subject to massive attacks from Russian territory and some places do not look inhabitable anymore. Starenki has supported lonely older people in the Sumy region for more than a year and now we deliver emergency aid there because our recipients were evacuated from their homes with little bags of the most necessary things and documents to neighboring safer settlements. According to the UN, almost 600 humanitarian organizations work in Ukraine now. However, even with this tremendous number of help, some people in need don’t happen to receive aid. Among them are older people. Two years ago we wouldn’t believe that a charitable organization like us could provide humanitarian relief to hundreds of people. But time and circumstances request our full attention and resources. Most importantly, we are capable of helping. Owing to our local partners, donors, team, and well-built internal processes of prompt response to crisis. While you are reading this post, our reliable and brave partners, with military support, do their first round of aid packages distribution among older people in places under danger of shelling. Many of you know I have started a campaign to send ProClot to Ukraine. I think I need to clarify that the US government aid package is separate from the aid we are sending. While the government aid supports many of Ukraine's needs, it is primarily military aid. Conversely the Medix campaign is 100% humanitarian aid. The war kills and injures Ukrainians everyday our goal is to save lives from preventable death caused by blood loss. The goals of the government and our goals converge in the desire to save lives. However, the mechanism of doing so is vastly different. The US and Ukraine governments seek to save lives by ending the conflict. We seek to save lives in the moment, as we do not see a quick end to the conflict. So please support our effort to send a lifesaving product, ProClot, to Ukraine; even a small donation will help. Medix, my company is still a "start-up". We cannot afford to donate 10,000 tubes of ProClot, which has a wholesale value of $150,000 with profit. Our goal of, $50,000 only covers, replacement of our main ingredient which costs nearly $500/Kg. We are donating our labor, primary and secondary packaging and ancillary products, gauze sponges. We are coordinating with, GEM, (Global Empowerment Mission) who will handle shipping and distribution, at no charge. We are NOT making any profit. I bring this up because my motivations were questioned by someone who I thought I knew well and who I thought knew me better. As a Lebanese resident and humanitarian worker at the Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA), I am writing this in the depths of exhaustion. In a country where conflict has become the backdrop of our lives, the fatigue is unimaginable. Every airstrike, every violation, every shattered moment of supposed “ceasefire” drains not only our physical resources but the very essence of our hope. In the humanitarian field, our mission is clear: to support, to serve, to rebuild. But how can we continue when the financial means are gone, when we are emotionally shattered, and when physically, we are running on empty? We have nothing left to give, yet we are expected to keep going. International support feels like a distant echo, overshadowed by the stark reality of our daily lives. Families displaced for the third, fourth, even fifth time. Homes turned into rubble. Children robbed of their right to live in peace. The Lebanese people have proven their resilience time and again, but resilience has a limit. We cannot carry this burden alone. We cannot keep pouring from an empty cup. To my international colleagues, donors, and friends: we need more than empathy. We need action. The world cannot afford to look away any longer. Lebanon is not just a headline; it is a home to millions who are fighting to survive every day. For those of us in the humanitarian sector, we are fighting not just for others but for ourselves—for our families, for our communities, for the soul of this country. But the weight of this crisis is too heavy to bear without the solidarity and support we so desperately need. To those who hear this: stand with Lebanon. Speak out. Advocate. Act. Because silence is complicity, and Lebanon can no longer endure it.
