I came across a recent article from eSchool News that delves into the growing concern among K-12 educators regarding cybersecurity. With the increasing adoption of technology in education, especially evident during the pandemic with the distribution of Chromebooks and learning tools like augmented reality and gamification, protecting student data has become paramount. The recent survey highlighted in the article underscores this concern, revealing that cybersecurity remains the top priority for edtech leaders, with 99 percent of districts actively improving protections. I think exploring solutions such as blockchain technology and AI can offer additional layers of protection for student data. It's crucial for educational institutions to invest in robust cybersecurity plans to safeguard sensitive information and ensure a secure learning environment for all students. #Cybersecurity #EdTech #Security

“The role of edtech leaders is rapidly expanding as technology is permeating every aspect of our education system, necessitating their proactive involvement. Our latest survey underscores the growing complexity of their challenges, from developing Generative AI best practices and cybersecurity measures to addressing the digital equity divide. Since 2013, demands on edtech leaders have surged, yet district resources have not kept pace with these escalating needs,” said Keith Krueger, CEO of CoSN. I'm happy to see two things: 🛡️99% of EdTech leaders have cybersecurity at the top of their list! AND 💡93% of school districts are using technology solutions to address or improve student well-being, which enhances learning! #Cybersecurity #K12Schools #Education #Technology #EdTech #AI

#My3MTT #3MTTWeeklyReflection @3mttNigeria @IHSTowers @NITDANigeria Gabriel James FE/23/18657930 Corhot 2 Benue State Week 19 reflection task: Immediate impact challenge Task:How to solve and enhance the problem of inadequate teaching aids for practicals in my ALC ( 3MTT Learning Cluster Micro Tech Solution and Service Center). Solution: To address the problem of inadequate teaching aids for practicals in cybersecurity, an immediate impact solution could involve the development and implementation of a Cybersecurity. Learning Hub. This hub would focus on providing accessible, hands-on resources and tools for both educators and students. Here’s a step-by-step outline of how to create this solution: 1. Resource Development - Open Source Tools: Curate a list of open-source cybersecurity tools (e.g., Wireshark, Metasploit, Kali Linux) that can be used in practical sessions. - Virtual Labs: Partner with existing platforms like Cybrary or TryHackMe to provide access to virtual labs where students can practice real-world scenarios safely. 2. Curriculum Enhancement - Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to develop a comprehensive curriculum that integrates these tools into practical lessons. - Create modular lesson plans that include objectives, required materials (software/hardware), and assessment methods. 3. Training Workshops for Educators - Organize workshops aimed at training educators on how to effectively use these resources in their teaching. - Provide ongoing support through online forums or mentorship programs where teachers can share experiences and solutions. 4. Community Engagement - Establish partnerships with local businesses or organizations involved in cybersecurity who may offer sponsorships or donations of equipment/software. - Encourage student-led initiatives such as hackathons or security awareness campaigns which utilize the available resources. 5. Online Platform Creation - Develop an online platform where all resources are centralized this includes tutorials, videos demonstrating tool usage, lesson plans, etc. - Include forums for discussion among students and educators about challenges faced during practical sessions. 6. Feedback Mechanism - Implement feedback loops from both students and instructors regarding the effectiveness of teaching aids used during classes; adjust materials based on this feedback regularly.
