When Medical 🩺 meets in an Automotive 🚘 environment During the last annual meeting of MGA Mobility | MGA Medical - Mobility goes Additive e.V. in Berlin I made a trip into the Medical 3d-printing scene. A really interesting adventure 🥼 During the nice conversation with Özlem Weiss, Naomi Nathan and Sophie Poser we generated the outcome that the next Working Group Meeting of the Medical "Materials" Group will take place at the MANN+HUMMEL Technology Center in Ludwigsburg 🏢 📅 Date: January 27, 2025 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM This means 3d-printing experts from the Medical industry meets in an automotive environment. Let me highlight why I think this might be beneficial! 💪 3d-printing in the medical industry is truly revolutionary. There are various exciting applications: ✅ Custom Implants and Prosthetics: 3D-printing allows a patient-specific design, which can be tailored to fit an individual’s unique anatomy perfectly ✅ Surgical Tools: Surgeons can use 3D-printed tools which are customized for specific procedures, improving precision or simply speed ✅ Anatomical Models: These models support doctors in planning complex surgeries by providing a detailed replica of a patient’s anatomy ✅ Bioprinting: This involves printing with bio-inks made of living cells to create tissues and potentially even organs in the future (goes more into 4d-printing 😉) For me it’s amazing to see how technology is transforming healthcare and improving patient situations 🙋♂️ At MANN+HUMMEL we have a strong competence in additive manufacturing or 3d-printing, a long-standing expertise with more than 25 years of usage. The image showcases a modular suite of neurovascular models that have supporting radial and femoral artery access pathways. The 3D printed models here are derived from various patient anatomy and can be interchanged to create unique device navigation pathways. The modules are easy to swap out and can be customized with varying challenge features found in intracranial anatomy such as vessel loops and severe bends.
