The UK-Ukraine TechBridge — One Year of Opportunities 🦾 One year ago, the UK-Ukraine TechBridge initiative was launched, unlocking exciting opportunities for the growth and expansion of Ukrainian tech companies. Here are the key achievements from the first year of the project: ✅ UK-Ukraine Tech Bridge Investment Accelerator Twenty startups participated in this program, gaining valuable knowledge and mentorship on how to enter the UK market, attract investments, and build effective partnerships. ✅ Bootcamp and Investor Showcases Participants completed a 5-day intensive bootcamp in London and showcased their products to investors during London Tech Week, a premier annual tech event attended by over 20,000 people this year. Collectively, these startups secured substantial funding from grants and investments. ✅ Free Training The Ukrainians benefited from free training sessions from leading global companies, including Deloitte, Oracle, Salesforce, Cisco, and Re:Coded. These sessions featured workshops, masterclasses, and courses covering programming, cybersecurity, IT-focused English, creativity, design thinking, personal branding, and career development. ✅ Business Events and New Partnerships A variety of business events, including a cybersecurity roundtable and the UK-Ukraine Tech Forum, were organized. These events facilitated new partnerships, resulting in contracts and investments for participating companies. This success story is a testament to the power of international collaboration. Yesterday was very much a day of two halves (to ruin a football phrase). Part one was a sunny if chilly morning spent with the people supporting businesses across local authorities and academia including tech experts and founders and those helping all entrepreneurs across the region. We got deep into the OneTech Startup Game to better understand tech companies and tech founders, their pain points and the vital building blocks for growth. It unleashed a competitive spirit for sure and hopefully deepened understanding in the support system of why tech needs a different approach. Big thanks to Emma Joy Obanye for facilitating and to everyone who joined for bringing their energy! Playing this game is just one step in making sure we deliver the right support to tech founders and companies by helping ensure those delivering and making decisions about support know the landscape. It's no replacement for talking to, and working with, those in the tech sector - and those investing in and supporting them. WHAT'S THE DEAL? 👉 As IoT devices grow, cybersecurity risks grow too. 👉 Exein aims to protect our connected lives from cyber threats. 👉 Investors are clearly betting big here. 🤔 REAL QUESTION: Are we thinking enough about security as we innovate? What happens when women-led startups prioritize not just innovation, but also the security of the tech we build? 3. DIVERSITY IN TECH WINS! 🌈 Stack Infrastructure is fully sponsoring female students for a scholarship program in datacenter engineering. WHY IS THIS HUGE? 👉 This is a move towards real diversity in tech. 👉 Women entering these fields drive innovation and change the landscape. 👉 We need more female voices in engineering roles. 🤝 STRAIGHT TALK: If we want to bring about change, it starts with us supporting initiatives like these.
