We welcome the publication of the Transition Finance Market Review and are proud to have contributed through our Head of Climate Finance, Tom Tayler, as part of the Expert Group. The transition to a low-carbon economy is progressing but remains too slow and uneven. The Review’s recommendations aim to position the UK as a global hub for transition finance, benefiting both local and global economies. Collaboration across sectors is essential, and clear pathways from governments to shape markets and guide the transition will be crucial in scaling transition finance. Global perspectives on Transition Finance: key insights from TFMR's New York Climate Week event. In September, we hosted the U.K. Transition Finance Market Review's (TFMR) flagship event at New York Climate Week, in partnership with the City of London Corporation. We were delighted to contribute to the TFMR’s upcoming report by providing market-leading expertise and legal support to the TFMR secretariat. The event provided critical insights and strategies for accelerating global decarbonization, impacting global audiences and driving forward the Net Zero agenda. Matthew Townsend, James Roe, Cynthia Urda Kassis, Ken Rivlin, and Ying-Peng Chin have gathered the event's key insights and takeaways into an article to share these essential perspectives with you, including the following key observations: - Transition finance is needed economy-wide across all sectors, by credible recipients at entity- and activity-level. - Transition finance initiatives internationally are beginning to converge on key principles. - Net zero transition plans at entity, sectoral and national levels are of growing importance. - Public and private sector actors must step up on meaningful collaboration to overcome barriers to scaling transition finance. Discover the key takeaways and learn how transition finance can drive real-world impact: https://lnkd.in/ert7BJAe #AOShearman #NewYorkClimateWeek #TransitionFinaceMarketReview

Today the Green Finance Institute https://lnkd.in/gQHEc9bv published a report ‘Assessing the Materiality of Nature-Related Finance Risks for the UK’. The report highlights the impact that the cumulative effect of nature and climate could have on financial resilience for many companies, creating a business case for change today. This adds further import yesterday’s ISSB announcement on commencing work on nature in addition to the new and emerging corporate regulations which emphasise the important of climate resilience. At KPMG we have teams focused on supporting companies in understanding their climate, nature and climate & nature resilience using our Climate IQ tooling (and its nature module). If you would like to discuss this please contact Bridget Beals. #esg #climate #nature #ClimateIQ
