I wrote a few words for Silicon Republic on the incredible momentum in Irish startups this year—over €651 million raised in just two months. 🚀🇮🇪 Out of curiosity, I asked TechIreland if they had any early data on startup funding this year, and they kindly shared it. The numbers showed Irish startups have already raised more in two months than in the entire first quarter of 2023 and 2024 combined. It’s a testament to the ambition, resilience and dynamism of Irish founders building world-class companies like LetsGetChecked, Deciphex, XOCEAN, Protex AI, Tines, Coroflo, Mobility Mojo, Jentic—as well as exciting up-and-comers like DevAlly, Barespace.io, Meta-flux and Jamango!. But while this surge in funding is encouraging, it also raises important questions. How do we keep this momentum going and not stagnate? This is important as the economy faces geopolitical and structural challenges. With other European countries like France now investing heavily in their tech ecosystems, what more can Ireland do to accelerate growth and engage entrepreneurs? It’s great to see Michael McGrath driving pro-innovation policies at the EU level and groups like Scale Ireland and Dogpatch Labs championing the startup ecosystem here at home. Would love to hear thoughts from founders, investors, and operators—what’s working, what’s missing, and what needs to happen next? They're the most important voices we should listen to.
