Between 41% and 79% of people report feeling lonely, depending on the generation. AND people are reporting fewer meaningful connections, with only about 16% feeling very attached to their communities. This creates a golden opportunity for park and recreation departments. Excellent article to keep the conversation going on the importance of our social lives. Social exclusion is one of the strongest predictors of poor health. We need to lessen our focus on physical activity and transactional PRC services and move towards creating environments where people can connect and strengthen social skills and connections.
