⏱️ How much is your time worth? Are you using an ad-supported streaming TV service? Did you know that Disney+ ads take up 16% of the time on an average 32 minute show for only $6 a month in savings? That is a little over 5 minutes per show. If you watched just 24 shows in a month (or 10-12 movies, or some combination of shows and movies) that would equal around 2 hours of ads you have to sit through. That would mean by NOT upgrading, you are valuing your time at around $3/hour……just something to think about. 📺 Sherwood News did an great job covering how many ads we are seeing on each major streaming platform by testing their ad-support platform offerings and you may be surprised at their findings. 🤔 Something else I found interesting in the study was around who is advertising on these platforms. I was surprised to learn that most of the advertisers were the platforms themselves which generally means their inventory is not being sold out. I am curious as to why? Are companies and/or agencies not seeing the value? Check it all out here - https://lnkd.in/gQw2tzy5 #CTV #StreamingTV #DigitalMarketing

This is a great breakdown of the ad loads for all the major streaming platforms that have cheaper, ad-supported tiers. It doesn't surprise me that Netflix has the lightest ad load given the company's longtime avoidance of ads and how much it's always prioritized user experience over short term revenue gains. It'd be interesting to compare this to the average ad-load of YouTube, which typically packs in a bunch of ads but allows you to skip many of them after five seconds. I'd also love to see a comparison to linear television -- both network and cable -- which my gut tells me contains way more ads per hour than any streamer.

Most streaming services offer a premium "commercial-free" service and a discounted "limited-commercial" service. I always wondered how many commercials the "limited-commercial" format made me watch in order to save a few dollars. How many commercials will you watch in order to save $5 per month?

How much time are you giving up to advertisers if you’re opting for add-supported streaming? I love a good waffle chart and these are interesting in that they partially fill blocks, making the area values exact instead of rounded. Further, these #datavisualizations are unusual waffle charts as they also show time series data.

For years, streaming services were seen as the "cable killers," luring audiences away with ad-free binge-watching. But now, these platforms are embracing some classic cable strategies to finally turn a profit. Streaming has evolved into a hybrid model: ad-supported tiers, premium content bundles, and price hikes reminiscent of the traditional cable model are now helping to balance the books. With Netflix, Disney+, and others adopting ads and increasing subscription prices, the line between cable and streaming is blurring. What's different, though, is the flexibility streaming brings to the table. As streaming redefines itself, will audiences accept this "re-cable-ization" of their entertainment options? #StreamingWars #MediaTrends #Cable

Ad-supported free streaming services are fast gaining on big streamers. The platforms come with lower costs than paid services, thanks to their massive libraries of in-house and licensed content, and some originals. Likewise, people are leaving linear TV, transferring their ad-supported watching hours to free streaming choices. https://lnkd.in/gitfFj7c
