The Ipsos AI Monitor 2024 is a global survey of 32 countries, examining attitudes towards artificial intelligence (AI). The survey was conducted in April-May 2024 and interviewed over 23,000 adults aged 18-74 (or 16-74 in some countries). The data is weighted to reflect the demographic profile of each country's adult population. Key findings include: 🔊 67% of global respondents agree that they have a good understanding of what AI is, but only 52% know what products and services use AI. 🎙 53% are excited about AI, but 50% are also nervous about it. Excitement is highest in Asia, while skepticism is more prevalent in the Anglosphere and Europe. 📣 54% believe that AI has more benefits than drawbacks, but 41% disagree. 💲 59% think that AI will change their job in the next five years, while 36% believe it will replace their job. 📉 Younger generations, particularly Gen Z, are more likely to believe their jobs are at risk due to AI. 📈 People are split on whether AI will make the job market better (32%) or worse (30%). 🎶 There is a generally positive view of AI's potential impact on entertainment options (51% better vs. 15% worse), but concerns about its impact on the amount of disinformation on the internet (37% worse vs. 26% better). Overall, the Ipsos AI Monitor 2024 paints a complex picture of global attitudes towards AI, with both excitement and concern about its potential impacts on various aspects of people's lives.

Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) and AI Index just released their 2024 AI Index Annual Report. Here are some findings that stand out to me on the #corporate and #communications side: 👨💻 AI is increasingly the talk of the town in business...: In 2023, AI was mentioned in 394 Fortune 500 earnings calls, compared to 266 mentions in 2022. 👨💻 ...and in government: Mentions of AI in legislative proceedings across the globe have nearly doubled, rising from 1,247 in 2022 to 2,175 in 2023. 👨💻 AI adoption is on the rise: A 2023 McKinsey & Company report shows that 55% of organizations now use AI (including generative AI) in at least one business unit or function, up from 50% in 2022. 👨💻 People are nervous about AI...: An Ipsos global survey found that 52% of respondents in 2023 were nervous about products and services using AI, up from 39% in 2022. 👨💻 ...but it's important to consider that AI opinions vary, especially by demographic: For example, Ipsos found in 2023 that 63% of Gen Zers think AI will improve the amount of time it takes for them to get things done, compared to 43% of boomers - a whopping 20% difference. It's no secret that AI will continue to impact how we live, work, and communicate. Sentiments about the technology vary, so CEOs and other executives must be careful about how they leverage and speak about AI to key stakeholders. Staying informed is step one to a successful strategy. AI and Emotional Dependency: A Growing Concern 🤖💔 I recently stumbled upon an intriguing thought - what if, in our race to embrace AI, we end up relying on it more than we realize? In a world that's rapidly evolving with technology, it's easy to see why artificial intelligence is becoming an inseparable part of our daily lives. But, is it possible that we’re growing too emotionally dependent on it? I was talking to a friend who shared that they were feeling increasingly "close" to their AI assistant. It sounded strange at first, but as I thought about it, I realized something more profound: AI is starting to occupy a space in our lives that was once filled by people. From chatbots answering our questions to AI companions providing emotional support, it’s becoming clear that we’re navigating uncharted territory. What happens when we begin to rely on these systems not just for tasks but for emotional connection? While AI can simulate conversation, offer advice, or help us problem-solve, it cannot replace the nuances of human emotions - our complexities, our needs for real, authentic connections. This isn’t just a passing thought. It’s something we, as a society, need to reflect on. How much emotional support should we entrust to AI? And, as the lines between technology and humanity blur, where do we draw the line? I believe that as much as AI can improve lives in many ways, it’s important to stay grounded in human relationships. True emotional connections can’t be replaced by algorithms - they must be nurtured in the real world. I’m excited to share that my post on this topic is ranking as a #featuredsnippet on Google for "AI and Emotional Dependency" this keyword! 🎉 That means Google loves my content, and you can check it out in the comments below. New research on generative AI adoption[1] confirms: if you're not strategically implementing AI, you're falling behind. Fast. Key findings that underscore the importance of a structured AI ROI approach: ➢ 28% of workers use AI at work, with 1 in 9 using it daily ➢ Usage spans all sectors - even 22% of blue collar workers report using AI ➢ Employers need to bridge usage across demographics - women are 50% less likely to use AI than men (!!) The data is clear: AI isn't coming, it's here. But haphazard adoption risks widening workplace inequalities. Don't leave your AI strategy to chance. A systematic approach to use cases, risks, skills, and mastery loops isn't just smart - it's essential for staying competitive. ※ ※ ※ ※ ※ 📬 If this post is helpful or insightful, please comment or repost. 👀 For more on these topics, follow me at https://lnkd.in/g-jiiEMR 🧰 For a practical, no BS guide to developing & implementing your AI strategy, visit https://lnkd.in/gD2a_p_c

This development instantly caught my eye, as the possibility of having a digital replica of myself offers an intriguing thought experiment. What does it mean when I can have an accurate facsimile of myself, one that behaves like me and makes choices accordingly with increasing accuracy? For now the technology is still largely research-based, but how long until we have our own digital twins? While there will be concerns, there's also the potential for big benefits. Besides helping us with work, this application of AI technology could offer insights into our own behavior, psychology, communication style, relationships, and general well-being. Here’s the breakdown: 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 - General Social Survey (GSS): Agents predicted responses with 85% normalised accuracy, nearly matching participants’ own consistency. - Big Five Personality Traits: Achieved 80% normalised correlation in predicting personality traits. - Behavioural Economic Games: Predicted decision-making behaviour with a 66% correlation. - Experimental Replications: Agents replicated results in 4 out of 5 social science experiments, with an effect size correlation of 0.98 to human participants. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲? - In-depth Interviews: Two-hour conversations capture personal nuances often missed by surveys. - AI Interviewer: Ensures consistency and insightful follow-ups. - Expert Reflection Module: Synthesises memories through an AI “domain expert” (psychologist, economist, etc.). - Bias Reduction: Agents showed less bias across political, racial, and gender groups compared to demographic-based approaches. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Generative agents outperform other methods, including: - Demographic-based models - Persona-based descriptions - Composite agents using survey data Even with shortened interviews, the agents still excelled.
