A boss once told me I was scary 🤨 I’m not scary, I'm competent but if you underestimate me then yeah, you'll get a fright....boo 👻 I'm not a security leader because I'm quiet, agreeable or easy to ignore. Funny how confidence, directness, and holding people accountable are labelled as scary when they come from a woman 🤷🏼♀️ So if my presence shakes it up, that’s not my problem, that's the power I've worked hard for 💥 #notscaryjustcompetent #leadership #womenwholead #cybersecurity #infosec #iwdtheatre #iwd25 #womenintech #cisolife #femaleciso #womenincyber #womensupportingwomen #sexismintech
I'm scary too. I also get "she's like you, but nicer". Life is fun
I once got told by a HR Manager I needed to highlight my emotions prior to speaking so people did not think I was emotional……
You are absolutely not scary Chelsea 😊
I know exactly how you feel. I’m going to say things have improved over my career. Although an element of that is a result of my style changing and my delivering the same message in a different way. Having said that I may have been called scary in my time. 😊
confidence isn't scary - accountability can be, but it's usually one's own (un)doing when it is...
I was once told I need to "fluffier" by a manager, it's funny how when men are assertive or taking the lead they are seen as leaders and pioneers but when women are we are often seen as bossy or having an attitude problem 🤦♀️ I do now have a "Little Miss Fluffy" pen pot permanently on my desk 🤣
You’re not scary at all Chelsea, you’re inspiring. My daughter is 16, and while she’s always going to be my little girl the truth is she is young woman. Young women like her need role models like you - so keep being you and don’t stop.
What a load of bollocks (to coin a phrase), your post is the definition of ‘bully’ whether it’s a man or woman 😡

5dI was called “nippy” for the same reason 😩
