If we could look into a crystal ball, what would it tell us about the future of financial health in America? In an election year marked by anxiety and uncertainty, there's much that people are concerned about -- from the warming climate and untenable cost of living to the future of jobs. In many ways, the future for financial health looks bleak. But there's also extraordinary opportunity, if the right folks from a range of sectors and expertise can work together. In this paper, the first in a series, we look back at what's changed since the financial health movement first began, and the trends that will shape it in the future. In upcoming papers, FHN will dig deeper into specific issues and trends, using our crystal ball to project a vision for the future. Thanks to the extraordinary FHN team ( Angela Fontes Lisa Berdie Michael Salmassian Jennifer Tescher Fawziah Bajwa Adeeb Mahmud) all our advisors, and the Citi Foundation for the support. #finhealthfrontiers

It was a priviledge to moderate a panel yesterday with such inspiring and knowledgeable speakers - Annie Wang, Morseda Chowdhury and Olga Biosca. All are deeply engaged in the intersection of financial inclusion with health and well-being. Thanks to #FinclusionWeek for including this important conversation in their 10th anniversary year. It's clear that there is so much we can do as a sector to address the risk faced by nearly 1 billion around the world - the risk that catastrophic out-of-pocket health spending can plunge them back into poverty. We talked about: ◼ Effective partnerships models that can leverage the strong social capital and trust that exists between FSPs and the local communities they serve ◼ The importance of looking at the intersectionality of outcomes ◼ Why we need to innovate health finance products beyond income generating loans - and some successful examples ◼ Empowering women to access essential health services ◼ The power of public / private sector partnerships (and the need for data sharing!) ◼ The role of financial institutions in promoting locally-led solutions #FIW24 #HealthisWealth
