According to CFP Board’s 2024 Compensation Study, 85% of CFP® professionals report high personal fulfillment in their careers. Combine that with a 10% earnings advantage, and it’s no wonder CFP® certification is seen as a valuable credential in the financial planning profession. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards is mulling its first comprehensive changes to its competency standards since adopting them in the 1970s. Among other things, it’s considering increases to the continuing education requirement for CFP mark holders. But before it does anything, it wants to hear from the industry. CFP Board CEO Kevin R. Keller, CAE says the changes will “shape the future of the profession.” #financialplanning #financialadvisors #finance #wealthmanagement

The first Wednesday in October is World Financial Planning Day! The Day seeks to raise awareness about the importance of financial planning and is supposed to offer an opportunity for financial planning experts around the world to educate consumers on how to prepare for their financial future. Did you get the memo? 🤣 . . . . . Education must begin first with licensed representatives who want to develop themselves to become competent, trusted consultants. I started my Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) journey back in 2013. After obtaining my AFP and AWP, I took a long break. It wasn't until 2018 that I realised that time was running out as there is a 7 year timeline to complete all 6 modules of this globally recognised certification! With all seriousness, I signed myself up for classes to ensure focus to completion. Thanks to Ronald Wong - his systematic, practical, disciplined teaching - I nailed it in one sitting. Being at the Convocation and witnessing 2 of my colleagues at Dunn & Partners being conferred their CFP® today really made my day! Just a few years ago, I was like them frantically writing for 3 hours with no time to pause for momentary rest or doubt in the final exam hall. I remember writing non stop, maximising every second, until the time was up and we had to put down our pens. It was gruelling! It takes hard work, and preservance to see through all 6 modules. And beyond it, to continue our pursuit of professional betterment in ChFC, CLU, TEP, the list goes on! . . . . . This industry is not for the faint hearted. It rewards the brave; the never-give-up; the growth-oriented individual - not extroversion. Being a licensed representative allows you to sell a product(s), and make a living. Being a trained and skilled Certified Financial Planner who possesses empathy, relatability and genuinety make your life, and the lives of those who would trust you and work with you. It is time to cancel the old, negative perceptions you have of financial planning/advisory consultants. Don't carry them into the future where you could have a different experience because the post-covid world is a different one - literally! I quote from ancient wisdom, "Where no counsel is, the people fall: But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety." This World Financial Planning Day month, let us decide to work together to make better financial decisions! #FPAS #CFP #FinancialPerspectives

❗️❗️Exciting News/Update❗️❗️ After years of studying, I'm thrilled to announce that I've passed the CFP® exam and am officially a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (legally the board requires the title be in all caps)! For those who may not be familiar, achieving the CFP® designation is considered a “big deal”. As my Grandma would tell you in her all caps form of texting - it’s a HUGE deal. The CFP® represents a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in financial services. From studying complex tax codes, nuanced estate planning, insurance & employee benefit plans, to investment and retirement strategies, the CFP® journey is rigorous (6 exams, a comprehensive case study, and a cumulative final exam), but the reward of being able to serve my clients with a fiduciary standard is absolutely worth it. And that, in and of itself, is the very point. I believe the CFP® is a big deal because it is simply the right thing for people on the receiving end of financial advice. CFP’s® are held to the highest standard, a fiduciary standard - the same standard your doctor and lawyer are held to when giving advice/recommendations. The CFP® Board's Code of Ethics & Standards of Conduct requires CFP® professionals to uphold the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness & confidentiality. We make a commitment to CFP® Board to put our clients' interests first at all times when providing financial advice. As I embark on this next professional chapter, I'm cognizant that some of you still reading this became clients of mine somewhere along my journey - and to you, I appreciate your continued trust & confidence. My commitment to you in turn is to continue investing in myself, and my team to continuously better serve you. And to those who are connections/friends of mine from somewhere else along the way - I’ve been quiet here & have not used this platform to talk openly about what I do professionally and how I help people - my door is open & I am happy to have a conversation. The CFP® mark is recognized as the highest standard of excellence for financial planners. It is earned through completion of a rigorous program of coursework covering the major personal financial planning areas: *Investment planning *Tax planning *Retirement savings and income planning *Risk management and insurance planning *Estate planning In addition to passing the six-hour exam, applying these concepts to real-life client scenarios, I have also have met the experience requirement (4000 hours of financial planning experience) and ethics requirement to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ marks. I am committed to act as a fiduciary, which means I will act in your best interest at all times when providing financial advice — and commit to other high ethical and conduct standards. I'm excited to bring the highest level of knowledge and expertise to help my clients navigate their financial lives and plan strategically for the future.😊

I don't see a whole lot of anything meaningful here, but that's my opinion. Last I had heard, they were reconsidering the bachelor degree requirement, but I see nothing about that in this list of proposed changes. * IARFC already requires 40 hours of CE every two years for RFC holders (40 every year for MRFC). * All of my insurance CE already counts for CLU/ChFC/RFC for each credit hour and it's very easy to get all my CE done in less than two hours. Other than insurance license CE, I never assume any carry-over CE credits for CLU/ChFC/RFC. * Accounting for all of your time allocation to three different disciplines of the CFP, including pro bono work? To me, this is far more micro-management for those who are in large firms who are university educated "para-planners" who took CFP courses in school and want to 'graduate' to becoming a CFP at such a firm. It's built precisely for them, not necessarily for real producers. Give it a read and form your own conclusion. https://lnkd.in/grYmzv-A
