Small and rural police agencies in the US need more resources, and NPI is dedicated to that cause. That is why we operate the Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI). In 2023, the RVCRI team provided 24 customized training and technical assistance to agencies across the country. During these engagements, the team offered policy samples and reviews, news releases and media resources, sexual assault investigator training, problem-oriented policing training, and conference attendance support. In this video, Captain Hull summarizes the application of data-driven policing in stops. He says, "Thanks to the experts in our Real-Time Crime Center, we can ensure that we make the right stop on the right people for the right reason." This aligns with what the #NIJ funded #EPJETS model suggests. The only missing component is the added emphasis on communicating this message to the public through procedurally just practices.

The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) have launched the Policing Activity Dashboard which surfaces previously unseen information on the use of police powers in NSW. The tool offers public access to searches conducted, move-on directions, bail and AVO compliance checks and Taser use. Users can see this info at the State and local level along with counts for Aboriginal people, young people and females/males. We hope this tool improves transparency and accountability over routine police activities, especially those of public concern such as strip searches of young people, Taser deployment and informs discussion of over-policing of Aboriginal people. https://lnkd.in/gyw36AQg
