Small and rural police agencies in the US need more resources, and NPI is dedicated to that cause. That is why we operate the Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI). In 2023, the RVCRI team provided 24 customized training and technical assistance to agencies across the country. During these engagements, the team offered policy samples and reviews, news releases and media resources, sexual assault investigator training, problem-oriented policing training, and conference attendance support. Learn more about RVCRI and its impact in the 2023 annual report: https://hubs.li/Q02W9mm80 #RVCRI

In this video, Captain Hull summarizes the application of data-driven policing in stops. He says, "Thanks to the experts in our Real-Time Crime Center, we can ensure that we make the right stop on the right people for the right reason." This aligns with what the #NIJ funded #EPJETS model suggests. The only missing component is the added emphasis on communicating this message to the public through procedurally just practices.

Looking forward to speaking on the webinar this Thursday. On the heels of the #SuperComplaint on the #Police Response to #Stalking from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust. The report from His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), College of Policing and Independent Office for Police Conduct highlighted inconsistencies and the need for forces to do more to address the way that #online behaviour has transformed stalking, as well as the #investigative opportunities presented by the #digitalfootprint left by #perpetrators. We will be looking at these challenges and opportunities, and what good looks like in addressing a horrendous crime with massive impact on #victims and #survivors where there is an acknowledged need for a #stepchange in the policing response. https://lnkd.in/eTGFWwxp #digitalinvestigation #VAWG #cyberstalking #harassment #onlineharms #safeguarding #trustandconfidence

I'm absolutely delighted that Forensic Analytics Ltd are hosting this live webinar when we will hear from a fabulous panel of thought leaders, practitioners and experts. This webinar will address this critical issue that is one of the Governments commitments to "take back our streets". They have put all aspects of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) at the epicentre of their criminal justice programme and made a bold commitment to halve the number of incidents in two parliaments. In the webinar we will hear about tremendous steps being taken by the Metropolitan Police with Operation Atlas showing how digital triaging and can help secure a dramatic rise in both charging and conviction rates of perpetrators. We will also hear from Thames Valley Police about Project Vigilant, where they are tackling sexual violence in the night time economy. At a time when over 700,000 women a year in the UK are subjected to stalking and harassment, and the rise in sexual violence is rising, anything and everything that can be done should be done, to remove these blights on society. #digitalpolicing #collegeofpolicing #techforgood #npcc

The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) have launched the Policing Activity Dashboard which surfaces previously unseen information on the use of police powers in NSW. The tool offers public access to searches conducted, move-on directions, bail and AVO compliance checks and Taser use. Users can see this info at the State and local level along with counts for Aboriginal people, young people and females/males. We hope this tool improves transparency and accountability over routine police activities, especially those of public concern such as strip searches of young people, Taser deployment and informs discussion of over-policing of Aboriginal people. https://lnkd.in/gyw36AQg
