It is with great sadness that CAL FIRE reports the off-duty death of Fire Captain Rebecca “Becky” Marodi. Captain Marodi served over 30 years with CAL FIRE, primarily in Riverside County, but also serving time in San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. The tragic loss of Captain Marodi is mourned by her family, friends, and her CAL FIRE family. Absolutely heartbreaking. Captain Rebecca Marodi dedicated her life to serving and protecting others, and this tragic loss is devastating. My deepest condolences to her family, loved ones, and the entire CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department. Praying for justice and for all those mourning this senseless tragedy. I have hope that this was not a hate crime directed at a member of our society by those who's politics are not inclusive. Calfire is an inclusive organization. Rest in the in-between, Captain. I hope you continue to fight for what's right from the other space.

I am saddened to hear of this great loss. Prayers and love to all in the fire community and her family.
