A year ago, I said yes to my new job, and time flies here. One of the many things I have been excited about is the strong network of both GroupM and Mindshare. In the first quarter of 2024 our Global Mindshare Offices have been on a roll. The recognitions include Global Agency Network of the Year at the MMA SMARTIES X, Media Agency of the Year at the MMA SMARTIES North America, and Media Network of the Year at Spikes Asia, along with taking the #1 spot in both the WARC Media 100 and Effective 100 rankings. Additionally, Mindshare is ranked #1 globally in new billings for 2023 by COMvergence. Love the quote from our Global CEO Adam Gerhart highlighting how our success is always built on the strong collaboration, we have with our clients. “When clients lean in, embrace true partnership, and make brave decisions with us, the impact of the work is undeniable in driving measurable growth and positive impact for their businesses." #mindshare #groupm #success #collaboration #partnership #growth #impact #congratulations

News streaming in that Omnicom is in talks to acquire Interpublic in a deal that could birth an entity with combined revenues of $20 billion. That would make it the largest marketing services group in the world, toppling WPP which has global revenues of $15 billion. The deal would bring together some of the world’s best-known advertising brands and would be in line with the ongoing consolidation in the industry. Omnicom includes agencies like BBDO, TBWA, FleishmanHillard and Omnicom Media Group, and has clients like Disney, AT&T and PepsiCo. Interpublic has agencies like McCann Worldgroup, Weber Shandwick, FCB and Mediabrands, with a client roster that includes L’Oréal and Johnson & Johnson. The news is very reminiscent of the attempted merger of Omnicom and Publicis Groupe about a decade ago. I happened to be part of MSLGROUP, which is part of Publicis, at the time. The deal eventually collapsed for a variety of reasons, from disagreements over who gets what positions to the cultural misalignment. While I was not important enough in the system to have exposure to what exactly transpired, many of us senior leaders in MSLGROUP's India ecosystem had our doubts from the very start. It will, therefore, be interesting to see how Omnicom and Interpublic negotiate these hurdles. If it does go through, the merger would put both in a better position to deal with the seismic changes in an industry that is now increasingly about technology, data and artificial intelligence. In fact, these networks' main competitors now are tech companies such as Google and Meta. It's going to be super interesting to watch from the sidelines how this plays out. #advertising #advertisingnetworks #omnicom #interpublic #publicisgroupe #marketingservices

A big shift in the agency market is happening. 🚀 Big brands like Procter & Gamble or AB InBev are increasingly bringing media in house. 🫠 Independent agencies like Horizon Media or S4 Capital Group are slowly decreasing in market share but defeding it 🫠🫠 Big agency holdings like WPP or Omnicom Media Group are losing market share Does that mean that Big 6 holdings are meant to face financial challenges? Well no, they are still growing in revenues thanks to (non exhaustive list): a growing digital ad market, penetration of untapped geos (APAC) or industries (Health), M&A/consolidation ...

Our takeaways on the Omnicom acquisition of IPG!
Some key takeaways from us at COMvergence on the Omnicom acquisition of IPG on the basis of our proprietary data – Leadership Positioning - According to COMvergence' Projected 2024 billings figures, the merger of the media buying operations from American advertising holdings Omnicom Media Group (OMG) + Mediabrands (MB) would result in a giant communication group, becoming the LEADER at a global, North America and Latam level – whilst it would hold the second position in EMEA and APAC, behind GroupM. Buying Clout -like never before - In a competitive landscape that is increasingly challenging for the large Holdcos, this consolidation/merger makes total sense, giving birth to a group made up of six global media agency networks (Initiative, Hearts & Science, Mediahub, OMD, PHD and UM), and benefiting from an unprecedented buying clout that has never been reached before.” Big 5 Market shares- In terms of intra-Big 5 market shares, OMG + MB would hold 32% of the cumulative total billings estimated for the Big 6 Groups (Dentsu, GroupM, Havas Media, Mediabrands, OMG, Publicis Media). The combination of OMG + MB would position the new entity of the group handling the largest billings of multinational advertisers Largest Billings of Multinational Advertisers- OMG currently works with 22 of the Top 100 Global Advertisers – whilst Mediabrands works with another 7 (with a strong footprint towards pharmaceutical clients). The combination of OMG + MB would position the new entity of the group handling the largest billings of multinational advertisers. #COMvergence #research #media

AD UNBLOCKED Publicis dropped their 3Q #earnings yesterday, and gave us all some good signs for the #advertising economy. Their net revenues were up 5.6% across the board - after some uneven years in the mAd business, this is welcome news; perhaps most especially for Europe, which following some quite lean years, offered nearly 5% YoY growth. However, as I've said for some time, the greatest growth for this global ad player was in the three regions boasting the world's fastest growing economies: APAC, Middle East/Africa & LATAM. Those of us who enjoyed the benefits of growing/maturing ad economies over the last decade need to learn that real growth in the decade ahead will NOT come from our own back yards. For my friends in America or Europe looking for the NEXT great areas of truly explosive growth, my strong advice is to venture beyond the edges of your home field. Publicis' full results (for 3Q & last 9 months) are here: https://lnkd.in/eX4CnVUK #earningsseason
