New year, same resolution: reimagine regulatory I'm very much looking forward to #JPM2025 this year as the industry enters (🤞) the most productive phase of the LLM/AI hype cycle: Exuberance > Skepticism > Despair > **Acceptance** > Benefit I'll be presenting at the TechBio Showcase on Monday at 2:30 to share how far we've come with AutoIND and, even more enticing, a sneak peek at where we're headed. Please stop by or reach out if you'll be in San Francisco next week, we'd love to meet!

Panel 4 | RFS from the DeSci BuildCon online conference. 🎙 Jean Herelle, CEO and Founder of CrunchDAO 🔷 Decentralized Problem-Solving Platforms: Create systems that enable collaboration among individuals, regardless of formal education or institutional affiliation, to tackle specific problems. These platforms would allow for anonymous contributions, reducing biases and power dynamics often present in traditional academia. 🔷 Anti-Commons Resolution in Open Science: Develop mechanisms to address the "tragedy of anti-commons," where institutions prioritize individual recognition over collaborative progress. This initiative would promote shared building blocks for research and innovation, unlocking faster advancements in science. 🔷 API-Based Monetization for Applied Science: Create APIs that deliver predictions or solutions derived from research, allowing customers to access applied innovations without owning the intellectual property. This approach ensures that fundamental breakthroughs remain open while enabling sustainable revenue streams. 🔷 Pricing Non-Quantitative Science: Explore innovative methods to value and price contributions in areas of science that are not quantitatively measurable. This could include systems leveraging decentralized protocols or crowd-based valuation approaches.

Andrew Kang: "The DeSci scene feels a lot like the wild west of DeFi back in early 2019. It's raw, it’s experimental, but everyone here gets that there's huge potential waiting to be tapped. 🚀 Sure, today's projects might not look the same down the line—it’s all about evolving through trial and error. Just look at Maker, Synthetix, and Aave in 2019! They started as clunky little microcaps and became powerhouses. 🌟🔧 #DeSci #Innovation"

As one small but mad science slice of the amazing machines available to our founders, here's a peek at the Analytics Lab in our Newark, NJ facility, which houses our HAX Hard Tech Program. If you know what a gas chromatogram or thermogravimetric analyzer is, then you'll be excited. As Lord Kelvin said, “to measure is to know.” And if you know, you know🔥 In this clip, our own Susan Schofer, PhD gives SOSV founder Sean O'Sullivan a tour of the lab. Don't miss it! Sometimes just getting to the starting block is an epic adventure in itself. Such is the case with Verisian with whom we’ve been collaborating since early 2023. Well, earlier this month team Bayer quietly kicked off the next phase of our work together with Verisian: deploying their technology to our statistical programming pipeline to rigorously explore how their unique combination of graph theory, LLM and AI technology can turbo-charge our existing processes. More than just speeding up our time to market, we see the potential to elevate the quality of our programs and extend traceability beyond anything possible until now. Now that the race is on, ‘excited’ just doesn’t do justice to the team’s spirit as we go forward in this phase with team Verisian. Feel to check out why by listening to CTO Henning Kuich's recent key-note: https://lnkd.in/eycTs2S4 Huge thanks to those powering this work: Team Bayer: Oliver Wirtz, Conni (Cornelia Fulgenzi), Peter Bonata, Hamdi Chouikha, Ankur Mathur, Srinivas V. and Astrid Scherer with Team Verisian: Richardus Vonk, Henning Kuich and Tomás Sabat: exploring doing better now!

As much as I enjoy all the excellent discussions at TenU #InnovationSummit, it begs some questions at the intersection of technology, academia, and investment: Are we entrepreneurial enough in the UK? Are we averse to risk? Can we embrace failure, learn from it, and ultimately make great financial returns? Great insights from Diarmuid O'Brien, MyCardium AI, Cambridge Enterprise, Northern Gritstone, Par Equity, Daniel Hulme, Andrew Griffith MP, Simon Hepworth, Lord Peter Mandelson, and many others (apologies for not mentioning all). I am keen to see how the #USIT for software framework will be embraced in practice.

"One of our customers had a change in their trial and they needed to contact thousands of participants. We did it in less than a week…[a workflow that would have] taken months. That's the speed we're bringing into clinical trials." – Trân Lê, Co-Founder of Grove AI At #JPM2025, our co-founders Trân Lê and Sohit Gatiganti sat down with pharmaphorum's Editor-in-Chief, Jonah Comstock, for a thought-provoking conversation on the future of clinical trials. They shared how Grace, an AI-powered clinical research agent powered by Grove AI, accelerates hundreds of thousands of participant interactions, driving a 97% satisfaction rate and improving trial enrollment and retention faster than ever before. Hear how clinical research leaders are accelerating trials with Grace:

🙀 Are you re-using your historical experimentation data efficiently? Or is it just wasting away in databases, never to be seen and deleted at the next clear out? 💀 🤝 Meet me at Accelerate24 in Vancouver this week to discuss my latest thoughts on how to use previous experimental data to maximise drug development and production algorithms, and get an edge over other labs: http://accelerate24.ca 🏔️ At Matterhorn Studio, we have been diligently working towards more efficient ways of reusing historical experimental data. 💪 One of those approaches robust TLBO, has "robust" promise to produce significant savings in the Pharma R&D pipeline, simultaneously delivering more reliable results. 🤔 How those savings look like specifically to you? Just use our impact simulator on our webpage: https://lnkd.in/eURBTDp4
