How did Coda transform their CI pipeline? Coda faced long build and test times that were slowing down their development and driving up costs. By implementing Aspect Workflows, they reduced their no-op build time by 10x and cut compute costs by 67%. Discover how Aspect made this possible and what your team could achieve with similar optimizations. https://lnkd.in/eA_pwcDQ #CI #BuildOptimization #Bazel

Historically, there's been limited visibility into CI/CD processes, but that's changing with OTel. Take a look at how OpenTelemetry and related efforts are enabling CI observability, and the high ceiling for developer productivity gains that are ahead. Let us know your thoughts! Last post of my series of blog posts on how we're working at Ledger, this one focusing on Tech Practices. The principle behind all these tech practices is actually very simple: the more shots you get at something, the higher the probability you'll succeed. Therefore, what's the minimum thing I need to build to validate my hypothesis as fast as possible? 👉 Build it, test it, learn. Repeat. Releasing small and often is the north star which then drives a myriad of practices such as reducing the cost of pushing out changes and automating repetitive work that takes a long time (e.g. regression testing and software deployments). Rings a bell? Normal, it's #ContinuousDelivery at the service of #Lean product development and here's how we're doing it at Ledger 👇

My dear colleague Folker Bernitt (who's finally on LinkedIn <-- follow him!) has posted a great article on the (desired) prescriptiveness of CI/CD #platforms. There's so much good stuff in it that you should definitely read it... my main takeaways: 💡 The 2024 #DORA report states that a CI/CD platform can help dev teams to move away from infrastructure concerns and focus on high quality code and tests 💡 Whatever CI/CD platform you introduce: the responsibility for a green build of your software is always within the dev team 💡 Before you jump into building such a platform there are a few things to consider, though, if you want to avoid stifling innovation and negatively effect team autonomy 💡 Keep the abstraction on the right level of detail and don't force over-prescriptive workflows on the teams 💡 Understand that building a CI/CD platform is not a one-off task but requires long-term support and internal product-thinking 💡 Pave the road but provide escape hatches for teams to deviate if necessary. 💡 Don't over-complicate your offerings by trying to cater for each and every use case 💡 Take developer independency into account as a key to success https://lnkd.in/eQVK3PFC This being said, I would love to hear about your experience with CI/CD platforms and what worked and didn't work for you.
