The EIC Scaling Club has identified it as one of the top 10 market opportunities to support 100 companies in growing their value. Dealroom.co is constantly updating its list of the most prominent European companies profiled as "Future of Computing Startups Europe" and has become a reference paper for everyone interested in #Deeptech. We had a fabulous time attending Day 2, Innovation Day, at Cambridge Tech Week Some key takeaways from the day …. 📝 UKTN discussed the findings of their regional tech report, as Oscar Hornstein, Senior Reporter, highlighted the strengths, opportunities and challenges within the Cambridge ecosystem. 💡An insightful deep dive into pre-seed to series funding, chaired by Peter Cowley, Entrepreneur and Angel Investor, alongside panellists Pam Garside, Anne Dobrée, Shinichi N. and Christine Martin. 💼 We heard all about being on the business frontier as “Dontrepreneurs” from Tony Quested, CEO of Business Weekly, and Steve Young, Andy Hopper and Professor Florin Udrea. 🤔 A poignant keynote from Warren East, Non-Executive Director of Tokamak Energy Ltd. and former CEO of Arm, on innovation in Cambridge and globally, as he suggested that the U.K. needs to encourage more "risk appetite" to support high-growth tech firms. To mark this milestone, the France Deeptech association organized a press conference to unveil 15 recommendations that should help the French deeptech ecosystem scale better and faster. #Joltian (and France Deeptech's VP) Jean Schmitt was on stage to present some of the concrete measures proposed by the working group dedicated to funding (3 other WGs delivered ideas on public procurement, academic tech transfer, and regulation of life sciences). There are 3 items we want to single out in this shopping list, because we think they would have a big impact, and on top of it they are free (or very cheap) to enforce: 1- speed up international change of control (selling a French scaleup to a European acquirer shoudn't take half a year after signing) 2- create banking solutions really tailored for deeptech startups (particularly industrial ones) 3- R&D tax credits should have clearer rules, be refunded faster, and the overall scheme should not change every other year Let's quickly scale more science-rich French innovations!
