The more I work in UX #research, the more I get to see interesting parallels with data modelling. With data models we are always seeking the perfect spot between too many details and abstraction. UX journey mapping is a continuous struggle to strike an ideal balance between possibilties and satisfaction. Get too close to the ground, and you overwhelm your users. Step back too far, and you lose on value proposition. Finding that sweet spot is where the magic happens.

🚀 Bridging Worlds: My Take on DataViz & UX Diving deep into Data Visualization and UX Design, I've been struck by the powerful parallels between the two. Both realms are not just about aesthetics; they're about making complex information accessible and interactions effortless. Here's my condensed take on their common ground: Clarity is King: Whether it's data or design, the goal is to simplify, not complicate. User First: Everything revolves around the user's needs, context, and emotions. Iterate to Innovate: Feedback is a goldmine for improvement. As someone who's navigating both worlds, I see these parallels not just as intersections but as an opportunity for cross-pollination and growth. By weaving together the best of DataViz and UX, I can create experiences that not only inform but resonate. Let's blend, learn, and innovate together. What are your thoughts on the synergy between DataViz and UX? #DataVisualization #UXDesign #DesignThinking

Design and product teams are no fans of analytic requests that do little to help them or the business. Boilerplate trend analysis can be useful. However, it’s better to know which trends to monitor to get the best value for the business and the design team. Trends are most actionable when design assumptions can be connected to them. It's well established that information architecture (IA) is the structural design of any UX and UI. What's less understood is how it also serves as a reliable link to measurable design assumptions. Because IA is often leveraged as a design skill (versus a structure-enabling discipline), its ability to inform and predict future performance is often overlooked. However, with the right IA-based metrics and benchmarks, teams can track actionable correlations that impact user experience and business outcomes. Are there any teams using IA-based analytics to improve design and measure business impact? #IA, #UX, content, and data quality teams should be discussing this. #IAAnalytics #IAStructure #InformationArchitecture #MeasuringValue #BusinessImpact

Being wrong may be a blessing! In UX research, as often in everyday life, being wrong is an opportunity to become smarter. It’s a chance to dig deeper and ask important questions: Why didn’t the idea or design work as expected? What went wrong? This process of understanding leads to better solutions, as it reveals more about both the problem and the potential answers. When research is (or should be) an integral part of product development, it not only helps avoid mistakes but also uncovers hidden opportunities, giving businesses a competitive edge by acting on insights before others even recognize them. Reasons to Conduct Experience Research: -Bringing clarity and confidence to decision-making -Turn good product ideas into great or delightful ideas -Catch and address bad product ideas early -Identify and fix usability issues -Uncover hidden or unexpected product opportunities, solutions, or ideas -Reduce or help prioritize options or planned work -Fill gaps or explain patterns in product analytics and log data -Track large-scale emotion and behaviour #UserExperience #BusinessStrategy #ProductDevelopment #BusinessGrowth

Imagine a world where every business goal starts with understanding real customer problems. A world where user research is integrated into strategy. In reality, often: - UX researchers don’t have a seat at the table - We’re not included in discovery but merely in validation - Business goals are starting point and not the customer problem So, how do we reach this desired state: - Be proactive - Have conversations with teams to identify research opportunities - Use your research skills to speak to the CEO - Show the alignment between the customer needs and the business goals But most of all: 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 Keep going, keep pushing, keep showing up. Together, let's envision a future where understanding the customer isn't a step in the process but the foundation of every success story. Let’s be annoying 😉 #UXResearch #UXR #UserResearch #StrategyBuilding ---- This quote resonated with many researchers during our most recent Think Tank session on cross-functional collaborations.
